An incredible evening of musical theater!
by Jimmy33 on 4/2/13Burnsville Performing Arts Center - BurnsvilleIn summer last year, I was treated to BY FAR the most original version of "Cabaret!" I'd EVER seen! Now, the director of that play, Matt McNabb, has another hit on his hands with "The Mystery of Edwin Drood". The cast had to gather & rehearse at a breakneck pace from February to it's opening weekend, and you would never know how short the process was, because all of the dance numbers and songs are so flawless in their execution! A theater troupe decides to put on the last known Dickens work in Dinner theater fashion. The largest twist is that the work is unfinished, so it is a collaboration between cast members and audience members to vote the finish. There's a lot of laughs at the plot and the hijinx of the "actors", along with all the silly thrills you'd expect from an old radio show or something from the '60s. But there's also some showstopping voices that wrench at your heartstrings! I can't say enough! This show is simply amazing and must be seen!
