About

Michael Bublé In Concert

Michael Bublé thought he knew what love was. After all, he's sold more than 60 million albums worldwide singing about the subject. But it turns out he had a lot to learn.

The week that his last album, 2016's Nobody But Me was released, Bublé and his family went through an emotional journey that informed and changed his life.. He was understandably unsure how or if music was going to remain part of his life. "What the experience did was give me a real perspective.. It completely changed my outlook on what mattered and what was important to me."

But the desire to express himself creatively slowly came back into focus when Bublé invited his band mates over to his house, not with the intention of making music, but simply to enjoy each other's company and drink, eat pizza and play video games.

"Once we got bored with that, we started jamming and there was this wonderful click, this moment where I went, 'Oh, yeah! I forgot how much I loved this'," Bublé recalls. "I think I just needed a little helpful reminder." The concept for the new album (pronounced Love) flowed. "Then, the only question was not 'Am I going back to work.' It was 'Can I do it on my terms? Can I do the songs I love with the people I love the way that I love and do it with pure joy and bliss?' And once I knew that was possible, it was a go."

Bublé's vision entailed looking at love in all its facets, both sacred and profane. "This would be my group of short stories that would be my theory of love," he says. "The good, the bad, the light, the dark, and I think that took a lot of pressure off of [Bublé's co-producers] David Foster and Jochem van der Saag and me. There was just great ease of having done our homework and knowing what the record was."

His mission became clearer as he picked the songs - or as he says, "I know it sounds so artsy-fartsy, but I think the songs chose me. It's strange how the universe will just drop things into your lap."

Bublé anchors Love with songs from The Great American Songbook, often reinventing timeless classics with dazzling new arrangements. His haunting interpretation of "My Funny Valentine" is as menacing as it is melodic. Bublé and Cécile McLorin Salvant turn "La Vie En Rose" into a poetic bi-lingual duet, while Bublé and Loren Allred put a new twist on Kris Kristofferson's "Help Me Make It Through The Night." Charlie Puth contributes backing vocals on "Love You Anymore," which the hitmaker co-wrote with frequent Bublé collaborator Johan Carlsson. The emotional centerpiece of the album is "Forever Love," a tune co-written by Bublé about his favorite role, being a dad, and the vulnerability and strength that comes with unconditional love.

Love stands as a testament to the power of music and its healing power--in this case, not just for the listener, but for Bublé too. "The truth is I needed to make this album," he says. "The truth is it was really therapeutic for me. I felt so comfortable. I mean, these songs, this genre, is the essence of me. It's where I live, it's where I've grown up... It fits me perfectly. It's so natural."

His return to the studio came with a purity of purpose and an even stronger sense of connection with his fans, whose unyielding outpouring of support lifted him and his family through the darkest times. "Going through what my family went through also gave me faith in people and humanity," he says. "I just felt really blessed in a lot of different ways-- obviously with the outcome with my boy and I also felt like I had been blessed with this wonderful opportunity in my life to do something that I love that could maybe have the positive impact out in the world that the world had on us."

Making Love brought Bublé a sense of joy that, in hindsight, he realized he'd been missing on recent projects. "I never felt so free [since] I started my career when I was never worried about the results because I was so overjoyed and grateful that I could be doing it at that capacity. I just might have forgotten that joy. I don't know if I remembered well enough the real reason of why I loved it. I wish that I didn't need something so harsh to teach me such a lesson, but it is what it is."

And now, as Love goes out into the world, Bublé hopes the music reaches those who might need to hear it the most and provide comfort to those in distress. "There are people that are gonna hear these songs and they're gonna be inspired to fall in love and there are people who are gonna hear these songs and they're gonna be hurting," he says. "They're gonna be, in many ways going through tough stuff. And if one of these songs lifts them out of that, if it can carry them to another day, I think then I'm doing my job and I think I'm being responsible for the gifts I've been given."

Over the course of his career, Michael Bublé has wowed fans at countless venues, like Madison Square Garde (NYC) and American Airlines Center (Dallas).

Missed the 1st 20 mins, but still awesome!

by Jane on 10/18/22FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

Michael Buble puts on a fabulously entertaining concert, it was excellent. The venue wasn’t great, we had to wait in a very long line (1km) to enter the concert and weren’t admitted until 20 mins after the concert started.

This concert was the perfect mix of old and new music and a little extra that I wasn't expecting. He's the ultimate entertainer, funny, very talented and a proud Canadian. Concert Great, Venue Organization Not So Good

by Buble Fan on 10/18/22FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

The concert was excellent, when I finally made it in to the venue. The organization outside was terrible and there were very few support personnel to direct people into the building. As a result, there was much confusion and tempers flaired when people began to cut in the line that had formed (unnecessarily as we were to discover). When we made it to the front, a person finally informed us that we didn't need to wait in a line. Poor organization, support and communication. As a result of this, the concert, which was scheduled for 8 p.m. didn't begin until almost 8:25 because people we not yet in their seats.

Terrible set up but Michael made it worth it

by Tmcdermott on 10/18/22FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

First Ontario centre really dropped the ball. Doors were supposed to open at 7.. I’m not sure what happened but I ended up in a two hour line around the building and missed the beginning of the show. Security didn’t know what the hell to do and was directing people to “new lines” that weren’t even lines at all. People were very frustrated and multiple fights broke out around me. THANK GOODNESS the show was so fabulous. Michael the musicians and dancers were 10/10. Will go to see again at my next possible chance… hopefully not at FOC

    Amazing show, amazing performer.

by Hagit on 10/18/22FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

Funny, witty, inspiring. The line was unnecessary- very long lines, and disorganized. There should be supervision next time, to ensure people are properly standing in their cue.

Michael buble is an amazing artist as well as performer

by Enrique on 10/18/22FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

The concert was overall amazing! Michael not only preformed excellent as an artist, but as a performer too. He included the audience within the whole show as well as engaged with all his audience no matter where you sat! My only recommendation for the first Ontario Centre in Hamilton is to provide wifi for your guests. I would have loved to post about this concert via social Media, but I was restricted due to the lack of wifi within the building.

    Spectacular

by Margie on 10/18/22FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

Michael as usual was spectacular! I’m 72, my daughter 49! She thought he was a little too sarcastic sometimes😉. We both have seen him twice now. In a crowd of 14,000, I managed to walk by a cousin and his wife that I haven’t seen for 20 yrs (that was fun). There was too much crowd outside. Maybe doors needed to be open sooner! Concert was awesome!

    Chaos

by Deb on 10/18/22FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

The event was poorly organized with the check in security process. Doors opened at 7 for 8 o’clock start. We arrived at 7:15 to be directed to go to the end of a line that wrapped around the entire facility. At 8 we had barely moved a block. We got through security and to our seat at 8:25 missing the opening of the concert. At over $100 per ticket on average, this is unacceptable service to attract clientele to support this facility. Michael Buble was outstanding and the only reason the review salvaged 2 stars. Will not be attending a concert in Hamilton again.

    Great Showman

by AMJ on 10/18/22FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

Concert was great. Michael Bublè is a wonderful performer & very, very funny. Somehow he made that arena of 14,000 seem small & intimate. My only complaint is the doors didn’t open until 7:30 & were supposed to open at 7:00.

    Great Concert. Poor venue organization

by Vikki on 10/18/22FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

Michael Buble and his band were beyond expectations. They were FABULOUS. Michael is engaging, talented and able to keep the crowd in the palm of his hand for over 2 hours. He sang all of his songs that everyone loves and his banter is fun. His band is so great and his back of singers engaging and talented. The venue was in no way prepared for 14,000 people and we stood in a line for 20 minutes after the performance began. I just don't understand this.

    We got in at 9

by Fab on 10/18/22FirstOntario Centre - Hamilton

Concert was an hour we got in at 9 pm he already started and nobody told him that 80% people were still outside waiting to get in
