METZ IN CONCERT:

It's incredibly fitting that post-punk trio METZ uses all caps for its moniker. Concertgoers can't help but scream the band’s name during epic live performances that feature earth-shattering volume and plenty of infectious energy. Their fuzzed out, thrash-worthy sound has drawn comparisons to Nirvana and Fugazi, but METZ stands apart by playing with the force of a band that should be three times their actual size. In concert they tear through crowd favorites like "Dirty Shirt" and "Wet Blanket" with lightning-fast precision, stunning crowds with thunderous drums, screeching guitars, and raw vocals. It all adds up to a high-intensity concert experience that will shake ticket buyers to their core.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Canadian collective METZ traces its roots back to Ottawa, where guitarist Alex Edkins and drummer Hayden Menzies met as teenagers. They began playing music together and eventually moved to Toronto, where they linked up with bassist Chris Slorach. The trio played their first live show in 2007 and spent the next few years writing, practicing, and fine-tuning their sound. In 2011 they scored a record deal with finger-on-the-pulse label Sub Pop Records, which gained notoriety for signing Nirvana and Soundgarden in the '80s. For their self-titled debut album they teamed up with Crystal Castles engineer Alex Bonenfant and Holy F*ck's Graham Welsh, who isolated the trio in a barn for a week with a portable recording rig. The result is a critically acclaimed set of tracks that captures the speed and hysteria of the band's live shows but also incorporates artful textures and dynamics. With a relentless touring schedule of up to 200 shows per year, METZ continually proves themselves to be a dynamic, must-see live act.

    Metz @ Teragram was perfect

by Tom on 12/22/22Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

Entry at the Teragram was smooth. Venue was clean, had cool ambience. Sound was excellent throughout the night. It's downtown LA so street parking is hard to come by, but there is a nice paid lot across the street. Metz were totally dialed in. Few live rock bands can manage either arena-ready riff'n'chorus hits or mind-bending epic noise rock. They do both with amazing precision.

The official Facebook event created by the venue stated the show ran until 11:30. Not interested in the opening bands, I got there at 10:15, assuming I'd catch nearly all of the Metz set if not all of it. Apparently they went on at 9:30 and only played 45 mins as it had just ended when I arrived.

    The totally killed it

by themetzwererad on 1/12/16The Sinclair - Cambridge

Awesome venue. METZ had so much energy, they were incredible. 10/10 would recommend. The first time I saw them, they were opening for Title Fight and stole the show. Seriously, they are just some kick ass performers. Awesome time.

Blasted off, would've payed for it

by birthdayjoy on 8/8/13The Sinclair - Cambridge

Converse nailed it for this free show and made my friend's birthday an extra special day... METZ put on a great live show, I screamed my head off, and had a good Mosh.0... The Men also were delightful. Converse sprinkled some sugar on top with free shirts and posters. First time at The Sinclair as well and will be returning soon

    Metz was great!

Great band, great venue! A few moshers in the front. Slightly annoying but fun at long as they don't bump into me.
