    Mary Poppins soared!

by moonfairygoddess on 1/5/14Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire - Lincolnshire

The theatre is in the round, so it brings unique opportunities to present the program. The familiar songs from the movies as well as the added ones were "practically perfect in every way." The leads were great - Mary is much sterner than she was in the movie. Bert was a delight - often breaking the 4th wall with the audience and engaging us at every step. Jane and Michael were very good as well. The supporting cast seamlessly blended into whatever roles they had at the moment. The choreography was inventive for the stage set up and "Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious" was very well done. "Step in Time" was a standout number from a choreography perspective. The special effects were inventive as well - the use of screens for Mary flying was a good way to get by the obstacle of a low ceiling and theatre in the round. The carpet bag and kitchen gags were very effective. Our entire family had a very pleasant evening.

    Not for small children

    by Aline215 on 1/3/14Lincolnshire theater - Lincolnshire

This play is not suitable for small kids. It runs for a long time and the theater policies and personnel are not accommodating of little ones. The play itself has nothing to do - besides the music- with the movie we all love. Most characters are grumpy and in a bad mood and the theme seems very complex for children to understand - the obsessed father and passive mother and the out of control children. Did not have fun, left at intermission. Do at your own risk.

This play was one of the most entertaining I've seen in awhile. The case was so talented and the music so fun. The time went by so quickly. It reminded me of why I love musicals!

    Delightful and Superbly Performed

by HBLJ on 12/2/13Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire - Lincolnshire

This is a family-focused, delightful musical superbly performed in the round by actors who held the audience spellbound with clear dialogue, marvelous singing voices, and robust choreography. Without taking away from any other actor, Summer Naomi Smart as Mary was simply captivatingly beautiful, Susan Moniz playing Winifred Banks deserves five stars and more for her sterling rendition of a faithful, loving mother and wife, and the spectacular performances of Madison Gloria Olszewski and Johnny Rabe as the Banks children were priceless.
