  • Malala was great, the venue was a bit disorganized.

Malala was great. Wonderful experience. I highly recommend her to anyone who hasn't seen her. Personable, articulate and worth seeing again. On the venue: Now let me be clear, this review was for the Palace of Fine Arts Theater NOT the event we attended. Last night we visited the PoFAT and had a mixed reaction. The venue seemed a bit disorganized, opening a few minutes after the stated time, both for VIPs and regular patrons. The refreshments bar was not fully set up, and one could see that they were rushing to get it done, making their patrons wait (suggestion, start your prep earlier). Delays by staff during any VIP experience, takes away from the time there, which costs a premium. You show your appreciation for your audience by how you treat their time. Later the meet and greet we attended but got started late, then the entry into the seating ran about 20 mins late (not sure as none of the staff seemed to know the entry time, one staffer saying they were still setting up the lighting. Seriously? How long does it take to set six lights shining on curtains for two people in chairs? Having just finished a week on stage crew at a venue in Sacramento, I know there is no need to "run late"(suggestion, start your prep earlier). The times listed for the event did not have a reliable seating/entry into the actual theater but they made sure we all knew when to pick up the items we had already picked up in our VIP experience. Finally, I thought that having the ladies' restroom door propped wide open set so you could see them going in and out of the stalls, including some feet/legs while doing their business was tacky. On the upside, the seats were very nice and we found parking nearby. The setting outside was amazing as when I volunteered there when it was the Exploratorium.

  • Great Evening

It was wonderful to hear Malala and understand her evolution from a teen thrust into notoriety to an empowered adult woman.

  • Lovely, Inspiring and Entertaining

Such an inspiring and entertaining talk! Loved the questions that were asked and topics discussed. The hour felt way too short.

  • Lovely Young Woman, Inside & Out

by LisaD on 10/31/25The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 5 out of 5

Malala is a wonderful role model for girls, and young women - and although she is the age of my son, she is one of my heroes. Poised and well spoken, Malala shared some of what it was like growing up 'after' - after her injuries, after her surgeries, after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize - and still trying t be a normal 'kid'/young woman.

  • Great speaker. Terrible venue.

by Deborah on 10/30/25The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver SpringRating: 3 out of 5

Malala was wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed her. The theatre was a disappointment. Seats were so tight together you could not move or stretch your legs at all. Very uncomfortable. Food offerings were terrible and so limited. As were beverage selections. All in all, Malala gets 5 stars and theatre gets 1.

  • Finding My Way Book Tour ~ Malala Yousafzai

by keisensmith on 10/24/25Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

A wonderful evening. I felt the event was well organized. I bought a VIP ticket so I could Meet & Greet Malala. Well worth it!! She is genuinely compassionate and engages in true discussion. The Town Hall theater is intimate. I had second row seats but from all seats the view would have been great. Malala had a segment in which audience members could ask her questions. I thought this was very brave of her, however she was able to handle all questions with respect and poise. Everyone received a book (VIP copies were autographed). I would love to repeat this experience with other speakers at the same venue and other Malala presentations at any venue.
