Los Angeles Dodgers History

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a storied franchise whose roots extend back to 19th-century Brooklyn, New York, though the team has been firmly settled in Los Angeles since 1958. The Dodgers have claimed seven World Series titles with all but one occurring with the team based in the City of Angels. Additionally, the Dodgers have won a record 24 National League Pennants and 21 NL West division titles. In 2017, the Dodgers returned to the World Series for the first time in nearly 30 years but fell to the Houston Astros. The team advanced to the Fall Classic again the following season, only to fall to the Boston Red Sox, but achieved redemption in 2020 after defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in a 4–2 series.

The Dodgers have one of the deepest and distinguished collections of Hall of Fame alumni, from Jackie Robinson and Roy Campanella to Sandy Koufax and Don Sutton. The Los Angeles team has also competed with six NL MVPs, including 2014’s Clayton Kershaw and 2019’s Cody Bellinger, as well as seven Cy Young winners and over a dozen Rookie of the Year selections.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium

Opened in 1962 in Chavez Ravine, just a few miles from downtown Los Angeles, Dodger Stadium is the third-oldest ballpark in baseball. Built to hold 56,000 people, Dodger Stadium has hosted the MLB All-Star Game in 1980 and 2022 as well as 10 World Series matchups. A renovation completed in 2021 included a two-acre centerfield plaza with a beer garden, sports bars, kids' play area and more, but the stadium has nevertheless retained or restored much of its original charm.

To compare this team with any other would be worthless. This team is truly incredible. Where else can you go where a team stands better than an 80% chance of winning on any given day? The stadium is fully packed with food and entertainment!! It is a great night out at the old ball game!!!

    Can't stand the new annoucers

by Jim Harrison from Redondo Beach on 5/25/22

Joe and Orel do a real good job, but I can't stand Dontrelle Willis. They had a women doing the announcing which is okay, but she is suppose to have more knowledge than me. Don't care for Nomar either. Those of us old timers that are used to Vin Scully need to have Joe and Orel do the announcing. or we won't be happy!!
