About Launch Music Conference & Festival

The music business takes over Lancaster every spring, when the Launch Music Conference & Festival sets up shop in the storied city's downtown area. With panels on getting ahead in the music business, performances by huge stars as well as up-and-comers and opportunities to bond with some of the biggest names in the business, the it's an event full of opportunity and riffs.

Now in its 11th year, Launch Music Conference & Festival was started by Jeremy Weiss of the label CI Records as a way to connect fans, musicians, industry members and anyone else with an interest in music. This year, the conference will also be presented by New Lane Entertainment, the record label led by hip-hop artist (and fellow Pennsylvanian) PnB Rock.

The annual event is focused on finding a place for working artists to make their job better, whether through booking tours more efficiently, figuring out how to enter the world of sync licensing or avoiding burnout. Previous events have included panels on safety at smaller shows, navigating the world of press coverage and "redefining the hustle" by making mental and physical health a priority. These panels feature people working in the industry giving real-life advice — and they're a great resource for any musician who wants to succeed without sacrificing their quality of life.

In 2018, Launch Music Conference & Festival hosted more than 160 performances across Lancaster, with shows in downtown Binns Park and The Lancaster County Convention Center as well as smaller clubs. Previous editions of the conference have included performances by top-notch artists like Panic! At the Disco, Underoath, Twenty One Pilots and Foxy Shazam, as well as hundreds of up-and-coming bands from Lancaster and beyond.

    Steady decline

by Deraj045 on 4/29/19Heritage Ballroom / Lancaster Co. Convention Center - Lancaster

Launch used to be a great weekend with a ton of great performances. While there are still many great artist attending launch whoever is producing the event is failing at getting a big name or two each night to draw a decent crowd.. small crowd=more boring time. This was my 6th or 7th time attending launch as a fan and the past two years have been bland with repetative performers and a serious genre change. While launch was always diverse its taken a sharp turn to rap and hip hop and all the production and focus has been put on sub par artist and the rock metal alternative artist are put on smaller stages due to not having names to bring out big crowds. Last year abr and ink had the big stage but everyone and there brother has seen each of them bands countless times and it had nonwow factor as did fest friday this year with carousel kings great band just everyones been down that road a dozen plus times

    Worth every penny!

by Tiberus on 4/17/17Freedom Hall / Lancaster Co. Convention Center - Lancaster

My friend and I got the VIP Badge for this and it was worth it. We went to shows each day from when they started to late at night. I heard the panels were absolutely amazing and educational (I wasn't able to attend them due to not calling off for work). There were so many great bands and artists that deserve more recognition. I will for sure be coming back next year as well.

    Launch needs better acts

by Guil420 on 4/16/17Freedom Hall / Lancaster Co. Convention Center - Lancaster

The fest was not that great. The acts were sub-par, and mainly were just locals from the area. As good as that sounds, the marquee acts were weak. Promotions were non-existent. There were like 40 people around for Emarosa, a band that is about to leave for tour with Sum 41 and Pierce the Veil?! This whole thing was a waste of time and energy. I will not attend next year unless their are better acts, and water available for attendees. Like it's Water... the earth is made up of 75% of it, and they can't come up off of it for free

    Amazing

by Drummer101 on 4/25/16Freedom Hall / Lancaster Co. Convention Center - Lancaster

This is the 2nd year I have taken my daughter, and she finds it to be a wealth of information, and very approachable panelists! They cover just about every aspect of the do's, and don'ts of getting into the music industry. Highly recommend!

    Uncomparable

by tatianadanielle on 4/28/15Lancaster County Convention Center - Lancaster

Launch was such an amazing experience. This was my first time attending, so I was expecting it to be a much bigger event. However I quickly found it to be a much more "intimate" experience, where I felt like the panelists were very accessible and I left with every question answered.
