    Great free performance

by over1812 on 3/17/15Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

Several of the selected choruses were enjoyable classics. I didn't know beforehand that two of the pieces would be an audience sing-a-long, so that was an extra treat. One or two of the selections probably wouldn't have been in my top 10, but it was overall fairly solid. For instance, I would have loved to see one of the weaker selections replaced by "O Fortuna" or a Wagner favorite (but I guess those are more difficult to do with only a piano as accompaniment).

Great Event for the Entire Family!

by BY123 on 3/17/15Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

This was my daughters' first Opera experience, and what a wonderful one it was! The performance was high quality, interactive, and just the right length for children. My girls enjoyed singing along and reading the translations posted above the stage. It was a great experience, and best of all, it was free!

    LA Opera was grand

by urbangirlLA on 3/17/15Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

This was a wonderful opportunity to hear our first class opera chorus perform a little closer to home. The program resembled an "opera's greatest hits" and was totally satisfying. The audience was multi-generational and multi-ethnic and we all had great seats. I am happy I attended.

    Very Enjoyable

by Sheila23 on 3/17/15Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

This is the second year we attended this performance. It is very enjoyable. The conductor has a great sense of humor. However, we may not attend next year since this was, aside from one aria, the exact copy of last year's concert.

LA Opera Off Grand @ Valley Performing Arts Center

by ERG386 on 3/17/15Valley Performing Arts Center - Northridge

For a $1 online ticketing fee, LA Opera offered a performance at VPAC called Great Opera Choruses. The show was about an hour, and an excellent introduction to opera! Grant Gershon, the Music Director of the LA Master Chorale and Resident Conductor of the LA Opera conducted about 60 opera singers through a selection of famous opera choruses. He was so engaging and explained what was going on with quick humor. And of course, the performers were very talented. I've been a fan of opera for a while, but my parents have never been to one. This little taste got them hooked, and they are looking forward to catching a full-length performance at the Dorothy Chandler sometime soon!
