About

KINKY BOOTS is the winner of every major BEST MUSICAL award, including the Tony®, the Grammy® and London's Olivier Award. Based on true events, this huge-hearted hit tells the story of two people with nothing in common — or so they think! Charlie is a factory owner struggling to save his family business. Lola is a fabulous entertainer with a wildly exciting idea. With a little compassion and a lot of understanding, this unexpected pair learns to embrace their differences and creates a line of sturdy stilettos unlike any the world has ever seen! But in the end, their most sensational achievement is their friendship.

Featuring 16 original songs by CYNDI LAUPER, a book by HARVEY FIERSTEIN, and direction and choreography by JERRY MITCHELL, this joyous sensation "struts its stuff with sparkle, stilettos and heart!" (Sydney Morning Herald). There's never been a better time to experience KINKY BOOTS, Broadway's "dazzling, sassy and uplifting" (Time Out) smash!

    Absolutely Amazing Performance

by MamaBeach on 3/23/19Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

The performers, music and dancing were amazing the entire performance. I am so glad we were able to see this spectacular show and cast before it leaves Broadway in April. If you are going to the city you must see this show.

by NDW on 3/22/19Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

Loved the story, music and acting. I wish more plays were this good and reasonably priced. I will be sorry to see it close in New York. Hope the creative team can come up with something else.

    So fun

by knifeknit on 3/21/19Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

One of the most enjoyable shows I have seen in a long time. Songs and dance and some great emotional moments. Usually, it is either song or dance, but this had both. Loved the characters. The character Don coming out with the cell phone bit set the tone for the show. The actor playing Lola was amazing in the role. The actor playing Lauren did a great job with the role, the audience seemed so happy she ended up with Charlie at the end.

    Fantastic

by Sharkeater on 3/20/19Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

I came to New York this past weekend and got to see four shows. By far, Kinky Boots was my favorite. I didn’t know what to expect But I was pleasantly surprised. The energy cannot be matched. It has a great story line. Don’t let people dressed in drag keep you away. It is far more than that. A truly fabulous broadway musical.

    UNBELIEVABLE and AMAZING

by D. B. on 3/20/19Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

Collum Francis is the KING of QUEENS!! Although I always wanted to see Kinky Boots, I only recently had a chance to see it, 4X since Broadway week in January! I even saw it 2 nights in a row 3/16, 3/17. I am originally from NY but currently live in Maryland, so this is a bit of a trip! I am convinced Collum Francis is the true and best LOLA ever! I have watched many you tube videos and viewed other video sources that have convinced me of this realization. Although Collum has only been in KINKY BOOTS since January as a fill in, he is the REASON I saw it 4x in a row in 2 months! I even was able to see him his last performance! I would have seen it a few more times if he had not left it! Also love the performer who does the split, truely nice guy after the show!

The shoes were everything. Loved the dichotomy of the colors from the first to the second half of the show. Inspiring and very now. Sad to see it come off Broadway.

    My regrets

by dmwnc1959 on 3/17/19Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

The show was absolutely everything I could have hoped for and so much more. Callum Francis as Lola was fabulous, hilarious, soul-stirring, moving, stunning, and tore up the stage. It was impossible to keep your eyes off of him when he was present. Andy Kelso as Charlie was such a delight, and it was easy to crush on him just a little, hate on him just a little, and be happy, sad, empathetic, and anxious for him a lot as his life is torn apart and put back together before your eyes. As for the songs, my second favorite is when Lola appears at the factory as Simon, and while hiding in the gents (men’s room) sings Not My Father’s Son to Charlie describing his life - it was heart-wrenching. Love this song so much; The History of Wrong Guys sung by Carrie St. Louis who plays Lauren was so funny and cute, with lots of facial expressions and the noises she’d make; Soul Of A Man sung by Andy Kelso was just amazing, the vocals soaring and strong; and my favorite song, Hold Me In Your Heart, was outright breathtaking and phenomenal, the audience so still and quiet absorbing every moment of this deeply personal moment, with its conclusion a shock I wasn’t expecting. I actually cried. When the show reaches the end with the entire cast dancing and letting go to a audience-clapping finale, I was filled with such joy and my heart was filled with so much love for Kinky Boots, I regret that I will never get the chance to see this again.

The show was great. It had touching moments and so much fun that brought real balance to the story. The performers were great, and Lola, played by Callum Francis, was amazing all around: vocals, dancing, acting. 10/10
