Jordan Rager inherited his musical interests from his father, a pastor who frequently led his congregation in song. Raised on his father's music collection (which included Kenny Logins, Alan Jackson, and Travis Tritt), the younger Rager was performing at local bars by age 15. Barry Williams (Jason Aldean's father and manager) mentored the fledging tunesmith and helped him find work as a songwriter in Nashville. During this time Rager also built a considerable online following covering famous country hits on his YouTube channel, eventually racking up more than three million views. His hard work caught the attention of NBC's The Voice, which invited him to audition for the series' second season in 2012. Though he was eliminated in the battle rounds, Rager self-released his debut album Burning Gasoline later that year and supported Justin Moore on the 2013 Off the Beaten Path tour. He inked a deal with Broken Bow Records the following year, and in 2016 he released his official debut single "Southern Boy" to a Top 40 spot on the US Country Airplay chart.
