Seen Her Twice and Would See Her Again

by chefjeff1 on 12/30/14Blue Ocean Music Hall - Salisbury

Jillian has a great, traditional country singing voice. She is able to sing rousing honky tonk, country rock and ballads, all equally well, but I especially like her way with a ballad because she knows how to wring all of the emotion out of a love song. My only complaint is that she (or her sound man) give too much volume to the electric guitars and not enough to her voice. This allows her voice to be overshadowed in many of the up-tempo songs by her band, especially in a smaller venue like the Blue Ocean. That said, I must say that her drummer was spectacular: Harry Miree was terrific. Not just great technically, but so excited to be there, and obviously into the music. You could tell that he really loves what he does!

Jillian was amazing! She was very entertaining and kept us engaged throughout the entire show. It was our first visit to blue ocean. The venue was very nice. It's great to have a place like this locally.

    Jillian has arrived

I've been following Jillian for a number of years now, and the show she put on last week left me thinking she is ready for the big time. She is true to Country Music roots with lots of original material that is ready for the radio , especially Give me something to go on", and "Dallas freezes over ". Jillian is a also one heck of an entertainer , and played for almost 2 hrs, only stopping to take time to speak about the background to the songs she has written. The band and back up singer was also spot on making for a very enjoyable show. I left the show thinking that the next time I hear Jillian sing may very well be on the radio.
