    Imaginative and fun show!

by CurlyQ814 on 4/9/13Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

I took my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter to this show, and she enjoyed it. It was a different type of show for her, with no talking or dialog. The performers were wonderful and the "skits" were creative and funny, especially the anteaters in a restaurant. Some of the skits went on a little too long, and the show as a whole is long (for preschoolers)...2 hours with an intermission. But the variety of skits and animals held her attention.

    visually wonderful

by buffy543 on 4/8/13Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

We took my 4 year old grandson to see this show. He is a very active little boy, who was able to sit for the first hour. The show is visually wonderful. But the vignettes move very slowly. Maybe to slowly for some children. However, my grandson did manage to maintain interest for the first hour but we did leave at intermission, as his interest was waning. This is a very creative and gentle show with wonderful costumes. But, as I said, there could be a little more action on the stage.

    30 Minutes Too Long

by TheaterFam on 4/8/13Tilles Center Concert Hall - Greenvale

Certain scenes go WAY too long, namely the cat-in-a-bag and the anteaters scene, where the audience of children and parents is expected to watch someone stand and wave to someone off-stage for about two minutes. No sound, no dialogue, just someone waving. Two minutes. Then the same person sits and looks around for about two more minutes. It's beyond dull, and you can hear kids getting restless and asking to leave, even as parents begin to question whether there is some sort of tech problem going on in the wings. (As for the cat scene, you're basically looking at a giant paper bag slowly (soooo slowly) tip one way or another for what feels like ten minutes.) Audiences who enjoy close seating, beware: Imago frequently performs low to the floor. In a proscenium arch theater, orchestra seats are awful for seeing what they're doing. My wife and daughter were disappointed, and so was I.

ok - i was so excited to be able to take my 8 year old niece and 4 year old granddaughter to something that looked age appropriate for both. the costuming was beautiful. But it ended there. The segments were too long - it became boring. over ten minutes watching a paper bag in motion was a bit much. we watched people leaving, and then my 4 year old granddaughter asked if we could go to a restaurant, so i told her that we would go when the show was over, she said NO, NOW! As we were leaving, along with other people, i asked the girls what they thought, my niece thought it was slow, my granddaughter said it was pretty, but she didn't want to stay. and i was glad to be out of there!

    Great performance

by mmcoffman on 2/7/13STEPHENS AUDITORIUM - Ames

Our 5 year old loved it. It was dark, so if you go, prepare your child(ren) that may not love the darkness. I think older kids would not appreciate it as much, I'd say age range should be 3 to 8.

Wish I could get my money and time back.

by Regretgoingtothisshow on 2/5/13STEPHENS AUDITORIUM - Ames

I bought tickets for my five-year-old daughter, my husband and myself to attend this event. I thought it would be a perfect introduction to a professional group of performers for my daughter. The website for Stephens Auditorium promoted it as a show that was for 3- yr-olds and up and the commercials made it seem as if it would be a funny and entertaining experience for the whole family. Not only was it too long for her attention span and boring it made the three of us uncomfortable with the extremely slow movements of the dancers/actors? and the lack of entertaining they actually provided. At one point, my husband and I looked at each other and mouthed the words--"just get on with it!" We won't buy tickets to a performance there again based on the website information alone.
