I have seen their sets before and it was amazing. Unfortunately, it was 120 degrees upstairs and this caused the sound to keep cutting out. There was no lighting or production to speak of. I found myself wanting to stand outside and smoke rather than sweat in silence. After the third time the sound cut out, I left.
...BUT, it was truly painful having to wait through the other acts. Caked Up is god awful, and one of the openers "Pyramid Scheme" is the epitome of "Bro" EDM. Both artists mentioned barely do more than press play on their laptops. Anyone who frequents electronic shows would recognize all of their theatrics. Just pretending to do things on the controller, playing songs that aren't their own and not even attempting to remix them. HUCCI, on the other hand, was really good. His tracks are awesome, and his live set was nice. I would definitely see Hucci again, but not in the same setting. I spoke with many people who felt the same way, everyone just kept saying, "We just came for Hucci". Masquerade in Atlanta just keeps going down hill, and it showed. The venue was probably not even at 1/4 capacity. *Side Note: There was a DJ downstairs, Mufasa, who threw down a killer set. Barely anyone was downstairs to see it.
This was the worst concert I have ever been to. The sound didn't work for more than half of the show. The artists and the crowd were very disappointed. The show was stopped multiple times due to the sound malfunctions. One of the artists played from what seemed like a playlist. There was no authenticity to his set. This is the second time that HUCCI has come to Atlanta and we definitely did not offer him the opportunity to put on a good show. Very disappointing!
The lineup for this show should have been an unforgettable one. After seeing Hucci at Counterpoint we were all really excited to see him in Atlanta. Unfortunately when the sound system had technical issues for Graves and Ozzie no one at the venue thought to plan ahead for Hucci and his set was subpar as well. None of them could make it through an entire song without the controller going out. Masquerade should save face and refund the people who paid or at least offer entry to another show. Sucks for Hucci because Atlanta was definitely waiting for you.
