I suppose it didn't go ALL NIGHT LONG, but it went past midnight and, since the show started at 8pm sharp, this was an overindulgent treat for blues and rock fans alike. A who's who of the blues played this incredible show intended to be an 80th birthday bash for legendary Howlin' Wolf guitarist Hubert Sumlin, but changed to a tribute when Sumlin died in December 2011. As the event title indicates, this was a BENEFIT show, so the prices were STEEP (my seat was $500), but the money went to a good cause, to help musicians who, for a variety of reasons, have fallen on hard times. Hubert himself benefitted from this organization. Although emotionally charged, the evening never dipped below celebration of the blues and the life and humanity of Hubert Sumlin. One of the best shows I've attended in my 25 years of concert going.
