Surprisingly good with a couple frustrations
by TeejM on 2/20/12Uptown Theater - Kansas CityOK, I came into this deal thinking I was going to have a lot more fun than I did, but perhaps that is because I ended up being very tired the entire night. On the other hand, I thought Good Foot was awesome, and Hearts of Darkness was repetitive, but still energetic. The fact that the concert was on Marti-Gras made the difference for me. The costumes and energy from the evening made the night! I was looking forward to Hearts of Darkness, but enjoyed Good Foot more. Again, this could be because I was exhausted by the time Heats came on. The music was great, but the lyrics for Hearts of Darkness could really use some sprucing up. They were very repetitive and by song #3, I was ready to go to change things up and was tired of listening. I purchased VIP tickets so I could have access to the "Special" private room with our own bar and DJ. Yeah that was VERY dissapointing. There wasn't a private DJ, and the bars in the main area were no more busy or difficult to access, so a private bar with the same pricing in a small room that was barely occupide for the first half of the night wasn't all that special. It was really a waste of the extra $12 bucks X2. I don't believe I will be doing that again. Overall, it was a good show for someone with the energy to enjoy it. It is something I would do again for Marti-Gras, but won't go out of my way to see again in the face of other options on any normal night.
