Some things are just hard to explain...

by EasyTiger on 6/24/15Howard Theatre - Washington

He could barely walk and talk, and apparently had just gotten out of intensive care 2 weeks ago and was performing against doctors orders. He only played and hour and 25 minutes WITH an intermission, but his band was spellbinding. Fairly traditional jazz built on a foundation of african percussion. The man is a miracle of modern medicine……

    Ginger was a trooper

by MPowell on 7/6/14Howard Theatre - Washington

Fighting illness, Ginger Baker still played for 2 hours. Great experience. Very nice venue. Great seats. Pee Wee Ellis, Alec Dankworth and 'Awesome' Abass Dodoo were all part of the Jazz Confusion - no confusing this evening, it was special.

    Ginger Baker Why?

by Mavverick on 7/1/14Howard Theatre - Washington

We were lucky to catch this show! Helps fill my bucket list. Ginger is a legend! Was great to see him in person. He was not feeling well and is touring against his wife, daughter and doctors orders! Shows a love of his music, fans and conviction. I was well impressed.

Ginger Baker Jazz confusion was amazing

by KhaK on 7/1/14Howard Theatre - Washington

I have only been a Ginger Baker fan since about January of this year, when I heard one of his CDs at my friend's house. I am glad that I went to this show. It was highly entertaining. This is the second show I've been to at Howard Theater. It was awesome

    good music

by amerhome on 6/30/14Howard Theatre - Washington

Excellent music and musicians. Unfortunately Ginger Baker was not feeling well - one of his band members even had to help him off the stage at the break. He explained that his doctor had told him to take it easy, so he couldn't play any of his marathon drum solos. He played a few short riffs though and they were great. I hope he feels better soon.

Ginger Baker - master of time

by Joskiemom on 6/30/14B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Ginger Baker gets a lot of credit for his lifetime as a drummer, but not nearly enough. He managed to cross over jazz drumming to the rock lexicon, infusing his love of time and rhythmic play with a deep dose of traditional African rhythms. Today Ginger Baker is playing jazz again, leaving behind the blasting drive of his former rock style as heard with Cream, Blind Faith, and Ginger Baker's Air Force, but never losing the core intensity of his relationship with Time. Still the master of poetic turns on the kit, Mr Baker delivered a performance that left me and my companion agog. It was an honor to be there. The Jazz Confusion lineup is a tight collaboration, and the entire show is not All About Ginger Baker. This is a band.

Add a star because it's Ginger Baker

by LRobin on 6/29/14B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

The cranky old legendary drummer still has it in him - in limited bursts. See it if you're a fan of Cream and Blind Faith, although you won't hear anything remotely similar to the music from that era. As a jazz fan, his group was adequate and his percussionist was very talented.
