    Virtuosity at it's finest

A wonderful evening with two of the finest musicians in their field. Very much enjoyed the incredible arrangements and the short description with anecdotes of each piece.

WOWWWW is all I can say. This was a fantastic show. It always amazes me how much talent a person can have. The show was so entertaining. I will miss seeing Gary Burton again as I understand he's retiring. Im glad I can always listen to him on CD.

    RUN, don't walk

by Mannymouse on 3/7/17Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center - Ft Lauderdale

I went down to Fort Lauderdale to see this magnificent duo whom I so enjoyed at the Blue Note in NYC about 2 years ago.. Makoto Ozone is arguably one of the finest pianists of our time and not much needs to be said about Burton. What made this event memorable, in addition to the exquisite music, is that Burton has just announced his retirement from MUSIC at the end of a very limited tour this month. Make every effort to experience this duo for the last time.

    Unbelievable Music

by IronStomach on 4/9/10Berklee Performance Center - Boston

It's a wonder that Gary Burton can pull together the diverse talents to appear on this show, all amid his busy touring schedule. I believe it when he said they only rehearsed the night before the performance. The music is truly wonderful, a cross section of his many years of putting together bands and performing and recording. All the musicians, young and old, famous and not-so-famous, played terrifically. The encore duet with Chick Corea is icing on the cake. Absolutely amazing !!!

Gary Burton - 50 years at Berklee

by Petevibes on 4/9/10Berklee Performance Center - Boston

Great concert. As a vibes player I am pretty biased but I think any jazz fan would love this show. Burton played short sets (20-30 minutes) with 4 different groups. He started with a reunion of his first band and ended the concert with his current band. The middle 2 groups were all star groups that included John Scofield, Joe Lovana and Antonio Sanchez (and many others). I think it was an excellent celebration of Burton's career and a true display of great playing from everyone.

    Loving it still

by Shrutis on 4/9/10Berklee Performance Center - Boston

This show was an incredible mix of Gary's different stages of music during his lifetime. A very special guest appearance by Chick Corea made it even better than it already was. Thanks Gary for so many years of jazz dedication. You are truely an inspiration to the community as a whole.

    still amazing....

So, not surprisingly these guys still are amazing. Mostly Pat's music, but Gary manages to add another "layer" to it with the xylophones...

    Gary and Pat were Excellent!

by ElGrandeQueso on 7/16/09Keswick Theatre - Glenside

I am a big Pat Metheny fan and have seen him many times over the years, but have never seen Gary live. What a fantastic experience! And having Antonio Sanchez there was an amazing bonus. It was like two shows in one with Gary playing his amazing vibes and Pat doing his thing with the jazz box, solid electric, acoustic and his signature Picasso guitar. I brought my fifteen year old heavy metal drummer son and he loved it! To listen to and watch Gary Burton solo on the vibraphone is an experience any person who loves music should have in their lifetime.
