FIAF Family Saturdays Tickets

The event consisted in the children cutting out pieces of hard 1/4 inch cake, slattering the pieces with chocolate and sprinkling with candy. There was no cooking, nor workshop- I could have stayed home and cooked or baked something with my daughter instead- that would have been a better practice and learning experience. The sheet cake was shared between over 6 children at the table, and the cake decorations were spread between 3 tables- i.e. the children had to go back and forth between tables, which was really quite impractical. The implements were also shared- i.e. one child put the cutter up his sleeve. When I noted to the other parent that this was not hygienic, there was a stupid response that the cakes were not meant to be eaten- you know how that story ends- i.e. yes, they took the cakes home to eat them. In addition, there were these two bickering women over the selection of working space/plates at the tables- and the team there did not manage the situation, which created a bad environment. The event started late because of straggling parents/families- again, not well managed. If you want to waste at least $40 (at least 1 child ticket $25 and one 'accompanying adult ticket' $15, then this is the ideal event for you. I actually like the FIAF- the library, other classes my daughter has taken there. This event was a waste of my time and money- and was strickly a photo op for the FIAF- they even put pretend bowls of flour on the corner of tables so they could take pictures of the kids with this there. My daughter will no doubt be on one of this event's pictures. They said they will hold another event for Valentines- no thank you.
