Too hard for kids to understand
by Consia on 2/28/18Apollo Theater - Chicago. 5 yo couldn’t understand quick speech and rapid rhymes throughout. We were looking forward to a play more appropriate for this younger age and it did not deliver.

Great show for all ages.Great music, cast, and atmosphere. It made me want to head south to Nawlins!
We had high expectations because we love the book series. The singing was excellent and my kids felt they were right in the middle of the book. The theater was intimate and the staging was simple yet transforming for each scene. We always love emerald city theater but they outdid themselves by picking MTH. Supporting cast stole the show!
Great play for kids. Entertaining and we learned a few things too!
I am always pleased to attend a performance of the Emerald City Theater Company. This play is no exception. The story of Louie Armstrong told through the lens of the Magic Tree House's Jack and Annie provides a play with rich content. The storyline, acting, music, and dance were all exceptional. A wonderful play for kindergarten and up, and some serious topics for older children.
The play was really fun. They engaged the audience and it moved at a quick pace. I took my son and he loved it.
We enjoyed the professionalism in the production. Our 5 year old loved it!
