I know most people were disappointed that a principal dancer was called away on an emergency. The publicity for the event far outshined the actual performance. The contemporary dances were performed much better than the classical numbers. For a fund raiser, it was okay. I would not pay more for a ticket.
Did not enjoy the contemporary portion at all! Did not think this was "world class ballet" and am not sure if I would attend any future performances. I also think the tickets were overpriced. Could not see very well from our seats so moved to the side seats as there were so many empty ones.
My 12-year old daughter and I were thrilled by the show. Not only were we able to be amazed by the classical-type of ballet, but more of the modern look as well. We are so lucky to have a group of people working together (from both sides of our border... thank you for joining in, Mexico) to present a very well thought out program for us to enjoy! I will look out for more events in the future. I wouldn't want to miss any of them.
I took my 5 year old daughter to see the El Paso City Ballet perform Gala Gala. It was breathtaking. I look forward to hearing that EP has a permanent ballet company!
