Edmonton Oilers History
The origin of the Oilers goes back to 1972, when they were one of the founding franchises of the World Hockey Association. Once the league folded in 1979, they were one of four teams absorbed into the National Hockey League. It didn't take long for them to establish dominance in the league, reeling off five Stanley Cup Championships in seven years. They are tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the most championships since the NHL-WHA merger.
The Oilers of the '80s were a phenomenal dynasty with a roster that reads like the Hockey Hall of Fame: Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Paul Coffey, Glenn Anderson, Grant Fuhr, Jari Kurri, plus a stellar supporting cast. Gretzky scored 92 goals in 1982, breaking Phil Esposito’s record for number of goals in a single season. He also recorded a record 215 points in 1985. During his time with the Oilers as centre and team captain, Gretzky led the team to four Stanley Cup championships (1984, 1985, 1987, and 1988). By the time Gretzky finished his time with the Oilers, he held or shared a total of 49 NHL records.
In all, the Edmonton Oilers have appeared in the Stanley Cup Final seven times.

Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place
NHL superstar Connor McDavid and NHL legends Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier opened the doors to the spectacular Rogers Place in downtown Edmonton in October 2016. McDavid and his Edmonton Oilers bring excitement to Rogers Place nightly, with the statue of The Great One standing guard just outside. The state-of-the-art Rogers Place replaced the aging Rexall Place, and resulted in an explosion of business and residential growth in downtown's ICE District.
The Edmonton Oilers’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, when the Oilers face off against the Vancouver Canucks. The Oilers take on Alberta rivals the Calgary Flames in the 2023 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton on October 29. The team plays their final game of the regular season at home against Western Conference opponents the Colorado Avalanche. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:

Awesome Venue, The hockey, music, lights, everything was great.
I was on the front side of fulfilling my retirement bucket list which is to hit every Canadian NHL team in their respective arenas and hopefully with my team, the Colorado Avalanche competing. The last jog of my trip was your Edmonton Oilers which includes the stadium, the employees and the fans. It was a superb experience with beauty, kindness, professionalism. The facility is nothing short of magnificent. You, the fans are way way cool and have true compassion for the sport and specifically your team. Ticket Master, thanks also to you for making this experience work from cradle to grave.
My 2nd year in a row seeing the BOSTON BRUINS in Edmonton vs the Oilers. The game was epic! The crowd was electric and the banter with the fans in my surrounding area was fun, civil and very entertaining! I had a 5 star experience again in Edmonton! AWESOME!!
Great energy in building fans were in to the game .. oilers exploded 5 goals third period mcdavid 6 point night plus Nuge scoring twice ..Funtime
It was an exciting night watching our guys win their 15 game in a row.
Oilers games are fun and organized. Lots of entertainment, crowd involvement, and prizes. Drink and food prices are terribly expensive.
From start to finish it was a good time. Lines moved steadily from entry to the vendors and everything in between. Line ups for the washrooms could be a little more organized but with that many people wanting to use them at the same time it wasn’t too bad. All in all I had a great time.
Great game, great place fast movement through the building. Only complaint need bigger and more bathrooms
I love the arena in Edmonton. I love the Oilers, match made in heaven. Really no bad seats here. We were in section 219 which is pretty high up, but it was an amazing view...could see the whole ice surface.
Oilers won seven to two let’s goooooooooooooo!!!!!
