There are times in life when it hits you how wonderful this country is and how incredible Denver is as a place to live and raise children. For my three children and myself, that reminder comes every year during the 4th of July game when the Outlaws try to kick butt and take names. The Outlaws do their best to win, the half-time shows are very crowd engaging, and the fireworks bring tears to my eyes every time. The Outlaws honor those who have fought for our freedom in moving ways, the team works hard to win their games, the dogs chasing Frisbees during half time is a huge crowd pleaser, the announcer does a great job keeping it interesting for the little ones with engaging banter, and the fireworks with patriotic films on the big screen are a can't-miss experience. Having flown over New York harbor during the 1976 fireworks display and watched many fireworks over Avon lake in Vail for most of my life, I've seen some pretty spectacular reminders of how great our nation is no matter how much we all may agree or disagree with what's going on politically. However, the Outlaw's 4th of July experience, always brings you back to home. The real reasons why our country is a special place to live in its purest form. If you are disheartened by what's going on in our country, THIS is the game to attend in order to renew your faith in humanity, to relive why great sports are an important focal point in our lives, why those who fight for our freedom matter, and how great fireworks displays are meant to take your breath away! Go watch the Outlaws do their best. Go enjoy everyone united in a reminder of what the 4th of July is really all about. Go show your children why our nation is special. Above all else, go remind yourself why Colorado is the place so many love to visit and why we're lucky to live here people. It's worth every moment and every penny spent.
