BSO - Brilliant! Tony Vincent beyond Phenomenal!

by Jimmygirl on 8/3/16Meyerhoff Symphony Hall - Baltimore

I purchased tickets to this David Bowie Tribute knowing that the BSO would deliver his music beautifully and I wanted to share this with some close friends. The musical gifts we received from the orchestra, band, and vocalist, Tony Vincent, was priceless! There was a choice pick of David Bowies' work and an intense collaboration of all performers it couldn't help but bring joy and movement to the audience. Tony Vincent sent chills through everyone with his first opening hit and left the audience astounded at his ability to respectfully replicate Bowie. All was presented with passion and taste creating one BROBDINGNAGIAN and LOVING celebration by everyone in the hall. It ended with a beautiful reading by Tony Vincent of select lyrics from " I Can't Give Everything Away". No doubt that David was scrupulously yet appreciatively smiling down on both the performance and audience reaction.

    Entertaining

by NoSax on 8/2/16Meyerhoff Symphony Hall - Baltimore

Having seen David Bowie numerous times live I wasn't really sure what to expect. The set list was good as it was a majority of his hits which made it good for the entire crowd. Personally, I like some more obscure songs (Time, Sweet Thing, Rock & Roll Suicide) so one or two of those would have been nice. (Life on Mars was great!) The singer was talented but needs to try to sound more British. He posed as if he and David were friends but it was really based on research. The band and orchestra sounded really good but one thing lacked. I don't claim to be a musician nor can I play an instrument, but how can you perform Bowie songs without a saxophone. All in all I had a wonderful time and it was entertaining.
