    Danny michel

by Val on 2/21/20Arden Theatre - St Albert

We were really looking forward to seeing Danny Michel. At the start of the concert they announced he would be performing with his opening act Steve poltz. That really spoiled the experience. At first their chatter was funny but as the evening went on it got very annoying and really seemed to cut down the amount of time Danny got to sing. Since we paid to hear Danny sing we weren’t very happy. They should have left the schedule alone and had the opening act do about 30 minutes, with the rest of the time devoted to the artist we paid to see.

    Brilliant, engaging, funny, poignant.

There is something magical about watiching such a talented group of musicians play together and have spontaneous fun with music and with each other. Or if you can't have fun, just move your shoulders up and down.

Every time I see him I fall in love again! Danny Michel is a great signer and musician. He's awesome on stage, funny and unpretentious. Just himself!

    The best laid plans

by DMSeattlite on 12/30/09West End Cultural Centre - Winnipeg

I first heard Danny Michel when he was a musical guest on Stuart McLean's Vinyl Cafe Christmas Tour two years ago. I was a fan after the first song. After learning that Danny was scheduled to record a live album in Winnipeg, the trip planning started...plane and hotel reservations, plans to go curling (!), I even bought a parka! Unfortunately, my back had other plans and 3 days before I was scheduled to leave, I learned I needed to have emergency surgery. Nothing could have sucked the joy out of the holiday faster than that, and although I do admit I enjoy being ambulatory again, I would've given anything to have been at these shows. Not only does the WECC look like a fantastic venue, but Danny is by far one of the best artists I've ever heard. Here's hoping I'll make it for the new album tour, whenever that may be! In any case, for those of you who were there, I'm envious! And if you've never seen/heard him, definitely give him a shot. You'll be amazed.
