About

CROOKED FINGERS IN CONCERT:

Towering over the crowd at a staggering six-foot-five, Eric Bachmann -- who records under the name Crooked Fingers -- slays audiences with talent that's truly enormous, even by his standards. Longtime indie rock enthusiasts know Bachmann as the former front man of beloved '90s outfit Archers of Loaf. Performing as Crooked Fingers, he abandons his former band's gritty noise in favor of somber, moody tunes that hit you where it hurts. Gone are the days when Bachmann's intense guitar riffs would coerce fans into savage mosh pits. Nowadays, he has an affinity for playing acoustic sets, sometimes relocating from the stage to the floor so he can croon to the audience while standing among them at face level. Bachmann tours with a rotating lineup of backing musicians that's constantly changing, making his live shows thrillingly unpredictable. With a rich catalog of strikingly raw songs, he crafts his live shows as intimate affairs that will tug at your heartstrings in the best way possible.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Masterful singer, songwriter, and guitarist Eric Bachmann, aka Crooked Fingers, first gained notoriety in the '90s as the frontman of Archers of Loaf. After the indie rockers parted ways in 1998, Bachmann ventured out on his own, releasing his self-titled debut record  in 2000. A far cry from Archers of Loaf's punky, amplified edginess, the album found Bachmann in a more introspective place as he achingly narrated tales of sadness and regret. The record was a hit, landing a spot on several year-end lists and earning Bachmann comparisons to artists like Tom Waits and Nick Drake. Since then he has released six full-length records including 2006's Back to the Races, which he wrote while living in a van, and 2008's rock-heavy Forfeit/Fortune. Archers of Loaf briefly reunited for a string of club dates in 2011 and 2012, but Bachmann continued recording new material as Crooked Fingers, including his most recent release, 2011's Breaks in the Armor. Since then he has toured extensively as a headlining act, an opener for artists like Josh Ritter and Sallie Ford, and a touring guitarist for indie darling Neko Case.
