Amazing soloist; music selection not so much

by Robin on 11/17/21The Soraya (The Valley's Center for the Performing Arts) - Northridge

The performer, a young man violinist, was PHENOMENAL!! The music itself, however, was some of the most unpleasant and depressing music I think I've ever heard. I realize that Shostakovich was composing a good deal of his music under Stalin and other communist leaders, but I've played music by Shostakovich that is not unpleasant and depressing. I hope they can choose a different selection next time.

    Spectacular violinist

by andy on 11/16/21The Soraya (The Valley's Center for the Performing Arts) - Northridge

What a difficult violin concerto beautifully played. As if the concerto wasn't hard enough, the encore was other worldly. The Bruckner eighth was beautifully played and matched the beauty of the Soraya hall. Thanks Colburn School !

The presentation was magnificent. This was my first time attending anything at the Walt Disney hall and I was in Awe all throughout the performances. Gustavo Dudamel was great as was the conductor before him. Each musical piece was played so eloquently

    lovely Sunday afternoon

by germanirishlass on 2/15/11Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely afternoon of music! The guest violinist blew me away! I brought a girlfriend of mine who had never been to see a classical orchestra. She was moved to goosebumps!
