About

CHUCK LOEB IN CONCERT:

Venerable jazz guitarist Chuck Loeb has been wowing audiences with his prodigious playing chops, stylistic diversity, and laid-back live performances for more than four decades. From his early days in sax legend Stan Getz's band to his smooth jazz success in the '00s, Loeb has remained a passionate and effortlessly cool performer, always bringing abundant charisma and confidence to the stage at his live shows. Together with his band The Silhouettes, Loeb delivers virtuosic performances of mellow favorites like "The Music Inside" and "Blue Kiss", and he never fails to impress fans with his razor-sharp riffs, humorous onstage anecdotes, and career-spanning sets.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

New York-born Chuck Loeb took up the guitar at age 11 and fell in love with jazz at 16. After studying with luminaries like Jim Hall and Pat Metheny and earning a degree from Berklee College of Music, Loeb immersed himself in the New York City jazz scene, and in 1979 he landed a spot in Stan Getz's band. He left the group in 1981, going on to play with a variety of acts during the decade before making his debut as a bandleader in 1989 with the album Magic Fingers. A steady stream of albums followed in the '90s and '00s, establishing Loeb as one of the most prolific and in-demand smooth jazz artists in the business. In 2010 he joined Fourplay, a Grammy-nominated jazz supergroup that he still tours with. In addition to his work as a leader, Loeb has written and produced music for artists as diverse as Johnny Mathis, Anita Baker, Bob Dylan, and Jennifer Hudson. A seasoned veteran known for his relaxed, soothing live shows, Loeb continues to get fans grooving every time he hits the road on tour.

Great performance, but poor sound mixing

    by S. W. on 4/10/22Berks Jazz Fest - Reading

Attended the Chuck Loeb Memorial Jazz Jam Band event at the DoubleTree Hotel in Reading, PA on Thursday, 4/7/22. It was a great performance, but the drums and bass were so dominant in the sound mix, that it was hard to distinctly hear the other individual, instrumental performances. Who does the sound checks at these events? Are they half deaf from constantly working in the high decibel environment, or something. The variation in sound quality between different live performances always surprises me. This one was not one of the better mixing jobs.

    Great Show!!

I thought that the show was amazing. Chuck was excellent and I was impressed with the sax player. Thought he did a great job. The addition of Bobby Lyle was an excellent choice. Bobby's sultry piano playing was well received and appreciated by all.

    Jazz, Funk Soul was outstanding

by VT66 on 4/15/16Berks Jazz Fest - Reading

Chuck Loeb is a very talented and outstanding musician. He's one of my favorite jazz guitarists - very smooth, fast and precise. One can tell he's having a good time playing for the audience. However, I would be remiss if I did not include Jeff Lorber, Everette Harp, and on this evening Lionel Cordew and Ron Jenkins all of whom are outstanding musicians and share the good time . The show was simply outstanding with individual smokin' solos and great duets. To JFS: Thanks for the treat and bless you all.

Chuck Loeb Trio and family at B.B. King Blues Club

by Oldtimerocknroller on 7/23/09B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Brilliant! What a privilege to be able to watch such gifted musicians perform in a small club! I am constantly amazed every time I see Chuck, he always has a new way of making you say Wow! over and over again, Something old, somethings new, being able to perform with not only your wife, but your daughter as well, just an incredible amount of talent in this family. Chuck is a master, but always lets the other musicians shine as well. He makes his guitar sing, weep and wail, and when we leave, we are fulfilled but still wanting more, till the next time, thanks Chuck for a great time again!
