With all of the touring the members of CAVO have been doing, as well as having had a ubiquitous hit in "Champagne," I'm always surprised to be reminded at shows that many music fans are still discovering them. Most often it's people who love the songs but don't realize who they're by.
But make no mistake, CAVO deserve to be recognized among anyone in the elite of alternative rock music and their pre-Thanksgiving show once again proved that.
Each member brought their typical high energy and individuality to the performance, dutifully ripping through the tracks from their 2009 album, "Bright Nights, Dark Days," though the highlight of the night was hearing a handful of new songs slated to appear on their next album that seem to simultaneously be a departure from their earlier work and a comfortable fit for familiar fans.
Another surprise was the band's original "Home for Christmas," a lovely ballad of longing that captures the spirit of the season while expertly showcasing the talents of lead guitarist Chris Hobbs and vocalist Casey Walker.
As CAVO continue to rise they bring with them a return to genuine heart and actual musical talent in the age of auto tune and producer-manufactured pop.
