Too many "Masters" spoils the Music!
by zantac on 3/17/14Talking Stick Resort - ScottsdaleWith "masters" on the drums, organ, piano, lead guitar, lead vocal, etc. these "masters" managed to mangle many musical moments. Billed as "Chicago on Steroids", these guys managed to do what steroidal people are accused of, namely being out of control. Either they don't believe in the music, or themselves. Everything had to have too much wow and pop, and the score was shredded. Sometimes, less is more, and these guys need to remember that. I would much rather have heard lesser musicians who played "tight", than the walloping mass of noise they put out. Yet, my sympathies are with the aging Danny, and Bill, as well as the younger talents, all trying to grab ahold of the brass ring again. But you do not have to try so hard, believe in your talents, and get it under control. The lead singer (formerly with Tower for Power), seemed to think that we needed to know he could hit high notes as he screeched continuously. The sound was not well balanced. But the musical choices were good, the venue is great, and the potential is there. More practice sessions????
