Amazing! Words can't describe the way Balmorhea's music moves you. You ride a rollercoaster of emotions as they move you from song to song. Their compositions range from dark and moody to hopeful. Go to a live show - experience it for yourself
My disappointment at being shuffled into the basement of such a beautiful synagogue quickly dissipated as wave after wave of delighted sound crept and crashed around me.
Balmorhea played the basement at Sixth & I Synagogue on Friday night to an enthusiastic crowd. For a long time accoustic ensemble, the group has added electric guitars and keaboards. The resulting sound stirs the emotions, broadening their range and appeal. The band members trade off instruments, showing their versatility, giving fresh insights to elements of their music. From hard charging to pensive, the band led the audience on a musical journey that ended too soon for listeners who asked for more. Balmorhea came back for a final accoustic number that rounded out the night. Expect great things from this band. Their vision and sound is evolving as they remain faithful to their roots.
