Atlanta Dream History

The Atlanta Dream are a professional women's basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Founded in 2008, the team's name pays homage to Atlanta native Martin Luther King Jr.'s “I Have a Dream" speech. Despite the Dream’s relatively recent introduction to the league, the team has qualified for the WNBA Playoffs nine times and reached the WNBA Finals in 2010, 2011 and 2013. Notable players in the team's history include two-time Olympic gold medalist Angel McCoughtry and three-time All-Star Érika de Souza.

Atlanta Dream at Gateway Center Arena

The Gateway Center Arena, home of the Atlanta Dream, is a multipurpose arena located in College Park, Georgia. The 3,500-seat facility began construction in 2018 and has hosted the College Park Skyhawks of the NBA G League since its opening in 2019. The Dream joined in 2021 after previously playing at State Farm Arena in downtown Atlanta.

The Atlanta Dream’s 2024 regular season tips off in May at The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California against the Los Angeles Sparks. One week later, the Dream host a 2023 playoff rematch for their home opener against the Dallas Wings on May 21. The Atlanta Dream close out the regular season at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York against the New York Liberty on September 19. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:

The Atlanta Dream have appeared in three WNBA Finals, in 2010, 2011 and 2013, but have yet to win.

    Going to an ATLANTA DREAMS game is definitely a must do. The energy and atmosphere is amazing. You can see the entire game anywhere from where you sit. The game host, dj and Bria is beyond amazing…. The keep the vibe going… we swag surfing, doing the wave and muting the whole crowd…. If you missed out girls in action this year you should definitely check them out next year. Come be apart of the “RUNWAY”!!!

    only the second wnba atlanta dream game we have ever been to went to the first-ever game they played. it was my wife's birthday and monique billings made it extra special for her with a picture she took with us number one player best player ever in our book. hard working ball player .she making think about getting season tickets
