Is there accessible seating?
A TTY phone system operates to allow direct access to the Arts Centre by phone for people with hearing disabilities. The dedicated number for this service is (03) 9281 8441. A hearing system is available in all Arts Centre venues except BlackBox and ANZ Pavilion. The system utilises a FM signal, providing coverage to all seats in the venues via headphones or neckloops, and is available from the venue ushers. There are spaces available for people with disabilities in all of our venues and can be booked in person at the Arts Centre Box Office, any Ticketmaster7 Ticket Centre or by phone (credit card only) on 1300 136 166. Patrons may seek assistance into the auditorium from any of the front of house staff either at the St Kilda Road Level Concierge Desk in The Theatres Building or in the theatre foyer. There is a small number of wheelchairs available for in-house use (ie from carpark to seats) but these must be booked by calling the Concierge on (03) 9281 8298. Car parking is available for people with disabilities in the Arts centre car park on a first come, first serve basis. There is also a very limited number of disabled parking at the rear of the Hamer Hall, but these must be reserved in advance by ringing (03) 9281 8248. Lift access is available to all levels however, there are steps into and inside the auditorium at circle and balcony levels. The only entrance doors in the stalls are behind X row. There are no steps inside the stalls level. The only entrance doors in the circle are at either end of J row. There are steps throughout the circle so the closer to J or H row, the fewer steps there are to negotiate. The other doors in the circle are exit stairwells only. There are stairs to negotiate to access the choir or boxes.
