    Delightful Guitar Work, Poor Ticketing

by Parityflux on 4/16/19Crowder Hall - University of Arizona - Tucson

As expected De Grassi and York pulled off an enjoyable evening of guitar music. Sometimes together as a duet and sometimes each artist playing on their own. The pieces were varied and the tonal differences between De Grassi's steel string and York's nylon, deepened the experience. The ticketing for the event was poor. We arrived a few minutes prior to the show and other people were in our seats. They had tickets issues for those same seats. We bought ours at Ticketmaster. I am not sure where they bought theirs. It was confusing and uncomfortable for both parties. In a rush, the venue issued substitute tickets to us for one row back. The seats were fine if a little less centered. The experience was not. I'm not sure how this could have happened with Ticketmaster or the Venue.

De Grassi trips the strings fantastic

by JohnnyRaySwing on 4/1/14American Theatre - Hampton

Alex and Andy played Hendrix, Stones, Beatles, and so much more... I was taken back to Dixie while gazing up at the stars bordering the American Theater Stage when Alex played dual melody lines in the opening piece. The simplistic sounds of finger picking individual strings, pulling chords full of sound, and working the guitar neck by a master soloist is such a wonderful way to get caught up in the stream of musical consciousness. I live for the moments that I truly get carried away in the music and Alex and Andy did it all night. It had been more than 25 years since last I enjoyed Alex's musical style and it was such a pleasure. The American Theater couldn't have been better. We sat 20 feet from the musicians and the space was perfect. Refreshments, a locally stocked art gallery, and down the street were bands and food-drink waiting after the show. The night was a standing Ovation! Congrats American theater!!! Five Stars Jeff
