Great performance of Jesus Christ Superstar

by Stephen on 5/19/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - Brookville

Show was excellent and unique in many ways from previous renditions that I have seen. The choreography was fantastic! Drawbacks were the microphones didn’t pick up everything and some lyrics were lost. Having no intermission was tough on an older crowd.

My husband and I saw Jesus Christ Superstar this past Wednesday. Both of us LOVED IT! This was my fourth live production of JCS and it was one of the best!

Sound was not great. Microphones were distracting. Cast was talented but couldn't overcome the bad sound.

    Needs improvement

by Flo on 5/18/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - Brookville

The show needs improvement. The choreography was not good. The set was plain. The outfits they wore looked like they just came in from the street and decided to perform. I didn’t like how they let many late arrivals still sit and they kept opening the door next to where I was sitting and it was very distracting.

Don't hesitate, go and see this play

by litlblue on 5/18/24Tilles Center Concert Hall - Brookville

I went to see this production because I never got to see it, when it was on Broadway. I went in with my expectations being mediocre, I was totally blown away. The singing, the choreography, the dancers, the musicians, all fabulous. Very moving.

Loved JCS since I first heard the brown album in 1970

by dslandrover on 5/12/24The Santander Performing Arts Center - Reading

I love Jesus Christ Superstar. It is my favorite show. I first saw the original national concert tour with Jeff Fenholt, Carl Anderson & Yvonne Elliman in July ‘71 when I was fourteen. I have since seen the show many times, including Broadway versions as well as professional, community & college theaters. I’ve watched the ‘73 movie innumerable times, twice at events hosted Ted Neeley & other actors as well as the 2000 & 2012 filmed versions & the 2018 TV performance. It has been fantastic getting to see this new 50th Anniversary Tour with all these wonderful young performers bringing a fresh take on the show I’ve love so long while retaining the original spirit. I had hoped to see the two actors that I saw playing Jesus & Judas three times before in ‘23 on the tour in this performance as well because they had such phenomenal chemistry. That’s not to say that the Jesus understudy didn’t do a great job but at this performance but it was just a different vibe. The Santander Performing Arts Center was different from any other theater I’ve been to with all bag requirements (ie., clear bag with very specific measurements & security guards sitting in front of the stage facing the audience). Theater personnel were very nice & helpful. My husband & I also had great seats, front row center.

    Awesome!

by LMW on 5/2/24The Santander Performing Arts Center - Reading

I was blown away by the show! It was a nice modern rendition of this Iconic musical. Modern Day choreography, which was absolutely wonderful. A very simple stage which proved to be so effective. The actors were outstanding. The use of lighting was fascinating. Never a dull moment. The music and ensemble band was Perfection. Two thumbs up for sure.

    Jesus Christ Superstar

by Marybeth on 5/2/24The Santander Performing Arts Center - Reading

I was so looking forward to this play as it was advertised as Broadway Production. However, the sound at the Sandander Performing Arts Center was terrible. As it was a musical, the lyrics tell the story but I couldn’t make out the words when the singers were singing in many of the numbers. For the cost of my seats, the overall experience was poor.

    Amazing production!

by Zoe H. on 5/2/24The Santander Performing Arts Center - Reading

Amazing! Excellent singing, even actors playing instruments on stage (I mean, Ted Neely was awesome in the movie, but he wasn't also strumming on the guitar during Gethsemane like this actor did!) Excellent and simple staging and wonderful choreography, singing and performing.

I've seen several performances of this over the years, but this was the best! Wonderful talent and faithful to the music! Would see it again!
