Belle and Sebastian are a Glaswegian indie band, known for their wistful, intellectual lyrics and melodic style and often compared to musicians such as Nick Drake and bands such as The Smiths. Many believe that they are the definitive sound of modern indie folk in Scotland. They formed in 1996, taking their name from the French children's book, Belle et S�bastien. Their sound is considered to be unusual and distinctive, and it has inspired a loyal following, although the band has never sought widespread commercial success and has in fact often shunned excess media coverage.
Originally signed to Jeepster Records, the band released a number of albums before signing with Rough Trade Records in the UK and Matador Records in the US. Their discography includes the studio albums Tigermilk, famous for being recorded in only three days, and If You're Feeling Sinister. They were both released in 1996, with the well known Boy with the Arab Strap released in 1998, Storytelling in 2002, The Life Pursuit in 2006, and Belle and Sebastian Write About Love in 2010. The band have also appeared on various compilation albums and live albums.
The band has received a number of award nominations, including the BRIT Awards' Best Newcomer, an Ivor Novello and the Mercury Music Prize. They also hosted their own music festival, the Bowlie Weekender, and were voted the Greatest Scottish Band by The List in 2005. Their music has appeared in a range of films, and they have toured throughout the UK, Europe and America. One particularly notable show was at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in front of a sell-out crowd of 18,000. Band members also worked to compile a CD collection of fresh children's songs along with a range of artists, including the Flaming Lips and Franz Ferdinand in 2006.
Great sound, intimate venue. You can watch from the show floor or up in the second story. I like that they have a little fast casual restaurant for a bite to eat before the show since there's not really anything close by. Parking is easy just behind the venue as well. They charged us $15 for the night we went. Not sure if that changes depending on the show.

I've loved Belle and Sebastian since their album The Boy with the Arab Strap. There is a sweetness about them, and they feel very welcoming and inclusive. No toxic 'rock star' vibes at all! But I'm not sure I want to watch that Quiz thing on stage again. It's sweet, welcoming and inclusive, and some of the trivia might even be interesting, and I'm sure the band wanted a break from playing, which is probably even more exhausting for them today as they must be in their fifties. But to me, it crosses the 'too cute'-line. Most people are probably there to hear them play.

Bellwether is a wonderful medium sized venue, intimate yet large enough to attract popular bands of all styles, with their balcony viewing area, dedicated open air lounge, clean accessible restrooms, and attached restaurant which also has a nice small stage. B&S always so good and Stuart is amazing! We loved it so much! Great concert at a beautiful well run venue! TY♥️
Not sure if it was the venue or the sound mixing or aging vocals, but I had to leave a band that I adore, after just three songs because it was ruining any love I had left for their albums.
The lighting during the main and opener show was really distracting and unnecessary - too much movement, too much flickering, light gets in your eyes and keeps you from seeing the band. The sound could be a little more balanced (I had to use earplugs for some songs but not for others cause the sound was too loud).
The musicians (The Weather Station as opener, Belle & Sebastian as headliner) were absolutely phenomenal and wonderful. I have zero complaints about them and their performances. They are shining stars and they make me so happy. However, it was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING that the venue did not lower lights and increase sound for the opener's performance. The Weather Station is normally a band with maybe 6 people at least, and they had to do an acoustic set instead with just 2 people, the singer and her guitar and another guitar player. Once again, their performance was top-notch. But the venue should have lowered the ALL lights significantly once they took the stage, which they massively failed to do even after she asked for it. Then a bunch of people were talking and having loud conversation during her quiet and beautiful set. Where was the venue to encourage people to pipe down? And what is wrong with people in Denver showing such massive disrespect to this amazing singer/songwriter??? The Weather Station is one of the best bands around with some of the greatest songs, and the lead singer/songwriter has the most beautiful voice around. I wish the venue had treated them the way they treated the headliner. Otherwise, all the staff at the venue--bartenders, greeters, id checkers, coat-checker, ticket checkers, guards, etc,-- were totally sweet and kind and wonderful. I'm not sure where the blame lies on the venue not doing enough for the opener, but surely it is not with all the wonderful service industry and security workers at their venue. Thank you to them all and to the performers. Listen to The Weather Station!!! You won't regret it.
This was such a great night: the opening acts were excellent, and Belle & Sebastian played a ton of songs that I've loved for years. This is such a fun venue with great food, and I had a fabulous time!
