Outlaw Music Festival on Tour
The traveling musical circus that is the Outlaw Music Festival gives rootsy music fans of all stripes a special opportunity for some summer fun. Despite the shifting lineup of artists from year to year, Willie Nelson, naturally, is at the center of each show, and when you're watching him perform you're seeing an American treasure in action. But there's a lot more going on at the festival, as fans have found out over the years. The Outlaw stage has hosted the impassioned R&B/folk/blues amalgam of living legend Van Morrison, the blistering blues-rock sounds that turned the Tedeschi Trucks Band into a musical institution, the freewheeling, jam-happy journey of The Grateful Dead's Phil Lesh and many, many others. For fans of Americana-oriented music, it's tough to think of a better way to spend a summer day (and night), and this festival gives as many people as possible that opportunity by taking it in on the road.
Outlaw Music Festival Background
Spearheaded by no less iconic a figure than Willie Nelson, the Outlaw Music Festival started out in 2016 and turned into an annual shape-shifting celebration of roots-based music's many forms. Dipping into rock, country, folk, blues and bluegrass, the festival has included Alison Krauss, Old Crow Medicine Show, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Sturgill Simpson, Van Morrison, Brandi Carlile, Sheryl Crow, Phil Lesh and Friends, Robert Plant & The Sensational Shape Shifters, Bonnie Raitt, Counting Crows and plenty more. The Outlaw Village that's a part of each event date gives fans a chance to enjoy local foods and crafts and to commune with fellow music lovers while they're not busy being bowled over by what's happening onstage. Not every artist at The Outlaw Music Festival is American, but they're all profoundly influenced by the many strands of music that make up the Americana tapestry.

Willie is a legend and the Avett Brothers put on another high energy show!
Our second time at The Wharf and it does not disappoint. We will definitely be back for other shows!
Went to see the Avett Brothers mainly for the first time. They were fabulous! I’ve seen Gov’t Mule once before and they didn’t disappoint. I love the laid back vibe at this concert including the cool vendors.
The concert was great, but the parking sucked! We took my 80 year old mother to see Willie, and she had to walk almost a MILE! There was so much parking available in the closest lot that was closed. It was awful! The video was also pretty bad. Usually you can see the performer on the screen, but you really couldn’t at this show. We bought tickets early and paid full price, so we were pretty far back, behind all of the people who bought $20 tickets. We should have been upgraded, if they were going to reduce ticket prices! Again, the performers were great!
Had the best time. My whole group really enjoyed this series!!! And the venue.
We have been to several shows at the Oak Mtn Amphitheater and it always proves to be a great venue. This was special because it included Willie Nelson, a bucket list show. ALL the opening acts, Especially the Avett Brothers, were spectacular and we will always choose this venue when it is available for our choice shows. Easy access, easy in and out, food and drinks are a little pricey but what venue isn't?
Mike Campbell & Dirty Knobs, Avett Bros, Willie and Friends were all great (missed first two acts) at Oak Mountain in Alabama. Sound was good, sets were great. All really professionally organized and done. Willie was awesome. Guitar playing still fantastic.
I enjoyed the music from all the artist that was on the billing. Howver the venue is at the time where it needs an update! Some of the seats are broke, they are old and really not comfortable. Need a little better selection of foods and drinks to be available for sale.
Willie Nelson still delivers! He hasn’t missed a beat! The Avett Brothers were also very good!
