KAMELOT IN CONCERT:

Power metal band Kamelot offers ticket buyers a theatrical, high-octane live experience that always gets fans’ hearts pounding. Audiences love Tommy Karevik’s mystical lyrics and soaring vocals, especially since he often invites them to sing along with his epic songs. Kamelot’s virtuosic musicianship provides a solid foundation for their majestic tunes, and guitarist Thomas Youngblood is sure to have heads banging with his pummeling, shred-filled leads. Throw in the thunderous, rapid-fire drumming of Casey Grillo and you have the recipe for an unforgettable live show. Kamelot has taken all their power and passion and poured it into their 2015 North American Tour, giving audiences a chance to see this thrilling visual and auditory spectacle for themselves.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Tampa, Florida, in 1991 by guitarist Thomas Youngblood and drummer Richard Warner, Kamelot has delivered classic metal to the masses for nearly two decades. When singer Roy Kahn joined the band in 1998, he helped the band achieve a new level of success with the album Siege Perilous. In 2005 the band taped their first music videos for the songs “March of Mephisto” and “The Haunting (Somewhere in Time)”, two standouts from the album Black Halo. With the release of Poetry for the Poisoned in 2010, the band made its first chart appearance in the US. They followed up with Silverthorn two years later, experiencing similar commercial success while also introducing new vocalist Tommy Karevik to the masses. Their 2015 album Haven continues the band’s hot streak and delivers the same epic story-telling and heavy metal virtuosity that have made them a favorite of metal fans all over the world.

Kamelot / Hammerfall / Ad Infinitum

by Jim Watson on 5/27/24The Masquerade - Heaven - Atlanta

The Kamelot / Hammerfall / Ad Infinitum concert at Masquerade Heaven in Atlanta Underground on Friday, 24 May ‘24 was one of the best shows that I have experienced in forty years of attending events. The Masquerade is a great venue with excellent acoustics. It is easy to get to with ample parking in garages located in the area. Uber also has a large presence in the area, providing rides for concert goers. Kamelot was primed and ready for this show. This was the next to last show on the second leg of their North American tour and it felt like the first show of the whole tour with the amount of energy that the band poured into the show. The guitar and bass lines were crisp, the drums were locked and loaded, the keyboards provided color and fill and the vocals were strong and “albumesque” in presentation. Melissa Bonny, an ultra talented young lady in her own right, performed the female vocals on songs - new and old and added a very nice vocal touch. Hammerfall was impressive with its straight ahead - power rock and its anthems to bravery, courage and camaraderie as presented in its music are outstanding. The twin guitar attack, supported by powerful bass, drums and strong vocals were awesome. Ad Infinitum, the opening act fronted by Melissa Bonny, was a pleasant surprise in terms of powerful music and performance. The band expended plenty of energy on stage and the performance of the musicians were exemplary. Melissa Bonny’s vocals and stage presence are as incredible as her talent which seems to be endless. She has numerous music projects ongoing as well as writing and performing. She is one of the most talented young women in music today! This show was my first VIP experience and what an experience it was! I was able to have a great conversation on bass amps with Sean Tibbetts, bass player for Kamelot, as well as being able to congratulate the members of the band for long years of top quality entertainment. The band was very amicable and accommodating given their hectic schedules - fully understanding the importance of a great rapport with their fan base. Thank You Kamelot, Hammerfall and Melissa Bonny and Ad Infinitum for a night of high energy - high quality entertainment!

    HOLY MOLY

by dmeister on 5/27/24The Masquerade - Heaven - Atlanta

Kamelot was amazing!! I loved it! My only complaint and I know it’s the smart phone age but couldn’t we put the people filming in the back of the venue ?! I could barely see because of a damn phone in the air! But what I did see was incredible

Great show slightly marred by poor mixing

by Milly on 5/27/24Bogart's - Cincinnati

Ad Infinitum and Hamerfall opened for Kamelot at Bogart's. All three bands played wonderfully and knew how to work the excitement from the crowd. The crowd was very enthusiastic in kind. However, the stage mixing for Kamelot was questionable, especially in comparison with the two openers: the snare and reverb on the bass drums were so loud that they drowned out everything else, rendering the singers and the guitar nearly inaudible (except during climatic solos). I'm not sure if there were technical issues with the mics/amps/pedals or it was a deliberate choice.

A Class Act in Theatrical Metal

    by K. P. on 5/26/24Bogart's - Cincinnati

I got to see Kamelot recently at Bogart's in Cincinnati and let me tell you, that is one band that knows how to rock your f-ing socks off and also has fantastic taste for pals to bring along for their opening acts. My mother's the bigger fan of the band of the both of us, but I can confidently say that this band is one of the best I've seen live. The atmosphere and sound of the entire concert was fantastic, I could feel the instruments from my head to my feet and it got my heart pounding with excitement, and it was like I was thrust into an almost fantasy gothic-esque metal landscape with stories unfolding with every song. Kamelot is definitely a must-see for live bands at least once, if not multiple times over. As a bonus note: Their tickets, even for VIP, are pretty well priced and so is their merch!

Too much “show”, to little musicality.

by JM on 5/23/24Roxian Theatre - Pittsburgh

This is the third time I’ve seen Kamelot in concert. They’re a fantastic band, and I recommend their shows highly. This most recent performance, however, was overshadowed by horrific lighting and an over-dependence on volume versus musicality. The blinding lighting prevented audience member from seeing the band for much of the show. For some reason the lighting designers decided to shine the spotlights into the audience, rather than focusing on the band. This resulted in audience member not being able to see the performers… several individuals near me actually put sunglasses on in an effort to dim the blinding lights that constantly glared into the audience. The show designers also overused smoke effects, with the result that some in the audience succumbed to coughing fits. All of this is a shame, because it’s so unnecessary. Kamelot is a very musical band. In previous shows seen at different venues the band took time to test and balance their amplification. This time, however, the volume was just set on “deafen” and the band let it rip. It’s shame because the performance was muddied by over-amplification. In contrast, openers Hammerfall and Ad Infinitum took much more care to match their amplification to the venue size, and came off sounding much more crisp. That’s a shame, because Kamelot is an extraordinarily band, and doesn’t have to rely on smoke and mirrors gimmicks to thrill. None of this would prevent me from seeing Kamelot again. But I hope the show designers will take note of the fact that the lighting and effects were overwrought, forced, and detracted from - rather than enhanced - the extraordinarily high quality of the band.

    Okay - Wouldn’t See Again

    by Bea123 on 5/23/24Roxian Theatre - Pittsburgh

We saw Kamelot with Ad Infinitum and Hammerfall. We weren’t really familiar with any of them, and we only bought the tickets for the concert week promotion. Ad Infinitum was nothing to write home about. The songs sounded the same. Two stars, because they are something that would be background music on the radio, but not so cringe worthy I’d turn it off. Hammerfall was a surprise. They reminded us of Iron Maiden (and maybe a hint of Rush). They should have been the headliner honestly, with their professionalism and synchronized headbanging. I would see them again. Five stars, because I actually felt like they gave a performance. Kamelot fell short. Starting off, the mix was terrible, and I’m sure it could have been okay had you been able to hear beyond the vocalist to the instrumentals. I found out after that apparently he is considered to be one of the top vocalists right now, but I personally don’t hear it. I’d rather listen to Leprous and Einar over him. But, beyond that, I couldn’t stand to watch them either. They used so, so many lights and effects that I spent half the concert with my eyes closed. When that got to be annoying, I just straight up left. There were actually quite a few people I saw leave their performance before us and not come back. Anyways, two stars because I’ve listened to recordings and know they could’ve been good. I’m not going to see them live again for the reasons listed, but I’d go for Hammerfall again.

    Wow!! Really intimate venue

by Sandra on 5/17/24Summit - Denver

I feel like no matter where you would stand, you always felt close to the stage. It wasn't a huge venue where it feels like you are 500 miles away from the stage, this one felt like you were really close to the band and can actually see them! I sat in the upper seating area and had a great view of the stage! Kamelot and Hammerfall preformed amazing! They were absolutely incredible. This is an experience I will never forget!

    Awesome show

by Alan Stephens on 5/17/24Summit - Denver

It was worth the 16-hour roundtrip drive. I've seen Kamelot several times before and I think this was their best show yet. Ad Infinitum was great, and HammerFall put on one heck of a show.
