About

ZHU launched as an anonymous electronic music project for Bay Area producer Steven Zhu, but has risen steadily over a decade to reach global headlining notoriety. ZHU’s musical venture began in 2014 with the release of his debut EP The Nightday, led by the deep house single “Faded,” which charted on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording in 2015. The producer expanded his scope on 2015’s Genesis Series EP, featuring crossover collaborations with AlunaGeorge, Skrillex and Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, before releasing his 2016 debut solo album, Generationwhy, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. ZHU’s 2018 follow-up Ringos Desert boasted collaborations with Tame Impala and Majid Jordan, and he released joint singles with Sofi Tukker, DJ Snake, Tinashe, and Jeremih. ZHU’s third album, Dreamland 2021, marked his sixth Top 20 release on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. In 2023, ZHU unleashed singles like “Revelations” and “Changes,” and his fourth album, Grace, is set to arrive in 2024.

    A great night out

by CodyPaul on 11/20/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

My partner and I had a thrilling night out, and Zhu was a great part of that. We both really appreciated the heavy metal energy and marriage with electronic beats. Thanks to the Hollywood Palladium for hosting.

Zhu is amazing, the palladium is not

by Cosmic on 11/14/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

Zhu is a great performer and puts on am awesome show. But this show was WAY oversold. There was barely any room to dance or move.

    Phenomenal

by Derek on 11/13/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

An incredible live show. He took us on what felt like a biblical journey. Some said it felt “all over the place”. I’d describe it more as showcasing an amazing range of creativity and versatility in set design, performer positioning, audio visuals, and sheet musical talent. One of the best shows I’ve ever been at.

Great Artist, Terrible Sound Engineering, Bad Show

by Udo on 11/12/23Hollywood Palladium - Hollywood

We've seen Zhu many times before and he has been excellent every time. This time, however, we could not get ourselves to enjoy the show no matter how hard we tried. This was almost entirely because of the sound engineering for the show. Specifically, the bass and treble channels sounded completely disconnected. It felt as if the bass were playing from a completely unrelated song and made it impossible to get into the rhythm of the music. In addition, the bass volume was poorly calibrated, causing it to resonate with the balcony and other parts of the venue, adding more strange noises that did not mesh with the music. The problem was far worse at either side of the stage, and less bad at center stage, but the issue remained even there. Overall very disappointing experience, and I'm tempted to place most of the blame with the venue rather than the artist, but I can't be sure. This is not the first time I've seen an artist I love at the Palladium and not enjoyed the show. As such, I will make sure never to see another show at the Palladium in the future. Somebody really messed up that night, and what's more, no one stepped up to fix the problem!

    Doors opened earlier

by Nikitaly on 11/8/23The Union - Salt Lake City

My friend and I were looking forward to the show, especially to see Jworra, an artist we have bonded over in our friendship. On the TicketMaster app, it said that the doors would open at 8:00. We were very disappointed and sad to find out that when we arrived at around 7:30pm. Jworra had already opened for ZHU and we missed her! It would greatly help if next time, the ticket would show when the doors ACTUALLY open. It would also help to receive email updates from both ticketmaster and V2Presents. Besides that.. venue is great, sound system is great, staff is great, drinks are great. Not a lot of lounging areas, but that's okay.

fantastic show and I’m so happy

by Boo on 11/8/23The Union - Salt Lake City

The sound quality and visual effects were amazing and it was so fun to see live instruments. I will definitely be back to see Zhu and anything live that comes to the Union. Such an underrated venue , I hope they bring more people there.
