Mediocre output
by Vudini on 10/16/19Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandThe show started about 15 minutes late as the crowd took time to fill the theater. The stage was bare, with no big screens, and really low lighting (making my videotaping very dark and noisy). The band was sparse, with only a drummer, a keyboard, a bass and an acoustic guitar. Zaz is her old self, full of contagious energy and an incredible voice; she alone is worth the admission price. A few songs into the set, she managed to make the audience stand up for a rousing "que vendra". This would happen again with other songs, like "On s'en remet jamais" and of course, "Je veux". The sound was great; wish I could say the same for the sight. Zaz did just one incredibly long set of almost 2 hours. Overall, a great experience at the end of which she had to be physically hauled in, but came right back out to her fans' adulation. Two wishes: better lighting and a couple big screens.
