Best holiday fun in the city—but prepare to pay.

by AmiDef on 12/22/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

Honestly this is the most fun I’ve had at a holiday event in Austin in a long time. The venue is big enough that it’s not overrun with crowds, the attractions are plenty and all very fun—although I will say the rides are little on the scary “I might die” side of the carnival spectrum. Taped up safety bars and rusty squeaky wheels and the like. But hey, it is what it is. Santa and Mrs. Claus were brilliant, the tunnel of lights was a blast, and the petting zoo was top notch. Not only did the little kiddos in our party have a blast, the adults all did too! Now the catch. On top of you’re ticket price be prepared to pay out the whazoo to actually do anything. Roughly 3-5 dollars per ride. 10-15 for things like the camel rides. Typical exorbitant prices for food and beverage. You could still see a lot without doing those things, but I don’t think we would have had nearly as much fun. I’d say be prepared to pay 20-30 dollars over the $16 ticket prices to really experience this event.

    Disappointing at best

by PaulH12345678 on 12/22/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The experience was disappointing. The map of “activities” seemed deceiving when we actually got there. We went on Tuesday evening and there was almost no one there so that may have been some of the problem but everything was spread out and it felt like we were there the day before it was actually opening. Nothing was really bad but likewise nothing was really great. The cost and drive did NOT make it any better.

    Fun But Needs More

by AnonymousAustinite on 12/21/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The Winter Wonderland was fun to walk through. I liked the singing trees and the trail of lights, but there was only one map for the entire area, and we didn't see it until an hour in. Most of the really good stuff costs even more money once you're in, and there was only one petting zoo, not two. Overall, I recommend this for families and kids, but there isn't too much to do for adults (unless you want a beer). I do like the fact that the portapotty's were easily accessible almost anywhere.

    Lack Luster

by SadFaces on 12/21/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

Didn’t feel magical at all. Minimal lighting, too spread out and not enough attractions. Don’t even bother with the “ice” skating. It’s plastic boards with water sprayed on it. If you fall (super easy, cause it’s nothing like ice) you will get wet and possibly dirty (my friend got muddy in one area). They beer was good and we didn’t eat cause we had dinner before hand, but the food looked standard fare. Santa and Mrs. Clause were great. The rest of the place was meh.

    Fun For Everyone!

by Anonymous on 12/21/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The Lights are Beautiful! The Singing Christmas trees are delightful! Spread out nicely, so even with our increase in population it did not feel crowded. There is something for everyone. Carnival rides, petting zoo, shopping tent, snacks and craft beer! You do pay extra for the rides and petting zoo. Don’t recommend unless you’ve never experienced either. The camel ride is $10 with one circle around the pen. The ice skating however is worth it, just watching people attempt and succeed is worth every penny. Fun for Everyone! Plan to return again next year!

    Winter Wonderland needs some work!

by giron on 12/21/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

Once you pay for your tickets, at $16.00 a each, they nickel and dime you to death! The lights and the human snow globe were the only attractions that were included in the price of the ticket and some of the lights were not even working properly. I can understand having to pay for the rides but at least make them reasonable! This certainly was not how you get people returning to the event year after year. In my opinion, this was an epic failure on their part.

Price of big smiles and good memories

by JLanders on 12/21/17COTA - Austin

I went for my kids. They would rate it 10 stars. They loved it - ages 4 and 6. Trail of lights is a massive hassle and this place was easy to get around and had a wide variety of things to do. Nobody mentions that the crafts tent was completely free, the fake “snow” was a thrill, and the lights jumping on the pond were actually quite fun. I look at this event through their eyes and can tell you it is great. The light tunnel (bridge actually) was included in the admission fee and is delightful for everyone. Their Ferris wheel was actually less expensive than the one at Zilker Park and the rides were in line with other carnivals. (We paid 2 bucks for the kids rides). The beer was 6 dollars, not 10, either they lowered the price or a previous reviewer was wrong. The lights along the track were underwhelming for me, but we were there to hang out with our kids and another family and the walk was really easy and there was a choice to short cut in-and-out. I was there for my kids and they absolutely loved it (which made me love it) The other family we went with would say the same,

Not worth the money or time spent to get to CoTA for a few sparkly lights.

Not great for pre-teen or teens

by Austin78737 on 12/20/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The Christmas lights were spaced pretty far apart. The event was not that crowded. If you wanted to ride anything (like the train or carnival ride) or ice skate (on plastic), it was all extra. There was an arts and craft area, but was mainly for smaller children. My boys were expecting to build something like the Christmas event in San Marcos. Not any activities for 11+ age group other than looking at the lights.

    Good for the 1st year

by JasonAnnAndrea on 12/20/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

It was good, especially being its first year. It didn't feel crowded like Zilker Trail of Lights so that was a huge plus. For the $16 ticket, a few more amenities could have been included. More lights would be great, especially since the space is so big - light it up!

Kids enjoyed it..grandparents not so much

by SkyworksTX on 12/20/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

Kids had a blast.. no complaints .. but there is a lot of walking.. very spread out.. food is expensive.. all the additional charges are difficult to follow.. no indoor place to sit and get warmed up & dry.. a heated tent near the food area would have great.. there was not enough of the freestanding heaters & not effective

If you have to pay for every attraction once you're inside the venue, why do you have to pay $16/ticket for admission? Too expensive.

    Somewhat disappointed

by Audgpodg on 12/18/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

This venue was very disappointing. I thought at $16 a piece, there would be more things to do. On the invite itself, it mentioned FREE things to do and other activities at a cost. I thought it was rediculous that a camel ride was 10 tickets=10 dollars to go around in 1 circle! I brought my 12-year old daughter and her friend and it was too expensive for them to ride all the rides. I won’t be doing this in the future!

    Pleasantly Surprised

    by M6780 on 12/18/17COTA - Austin

I understand the negative reviews. This is a pricey event and admission gets you in the door and not much else. I went with very low expectations and ended up being pleasantly surprised. We were 5 adults (one on a motorized scooter) and a 9 month old baby. We spent 1.5 hours walking around. My favorite things included: 1. The petting zoo. It was the best petting zoo I've been to. There were so many types of animals (goats, donkeys, llamas, a pony, a cow, ducks, bunnies). All were friendly and looked healthy and happy. This was the only paid attraction we did and it was worth every penny. 2. The singing trees. My daughter was mesmerized by them and we spent a good chunk of time on the way in and the way out watching them. 3. Photo opportunities. I loved the various areas for photos with pretty backdrops and lights. We paid for upgraded parking (because of the stroller and scooter) and am glad we did as it got us very close to the door. This event was huge and we only had time to see a small portion of what it had to offer. I'm very glad we went and hope to return next year. Especially if you have small children (and don't need to pay for all the extra attractions), I would definitely recommend checking this out.

    Underwhelming

by Anonymous on 12/18/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

The event had great potential but was underwhelming. For paying $16 per person to get in we expected a little more. The trail of lights is FREE and offers an amazing light experience. Winter Wonderland's lights along the track were so sparce it wasn't much to look at. And everything else cost extra - petting zoo, skating, rides, food, etc. It ended up being a very expensive event that was just okay. If the track would have had a lot more lights going on it could have been cool, but it was just premade displays leaned against the fence and they were so spread out it wasn't much to look at. That said - positives - the food trucks were good. The store was fun to walk through (but again it was just like any game store). Had the petting zoo, skating, and rides been included I could see the cost of admission being worth it. But for what you got for free it wasn't worth recommending to others considering the other light displays around town that are completely free.

    Doesn't include anything!

by Kmb2901 on 12/17/17Circuit of The Americas - Austin

At Austin, Tx. I payed like $18/c to be there and took my husband and sister with me (she is visiting from a different country) and we were super excited. When I bought the tickets it said that included a lot of things. (Which helped me made the decision to buy them) but when you are there you have to pay for everything you want to do. You have to buy "credits" to be able to enjoy. So what is that you can do for the money you paid? You can walk through the "trail of lights" that it's not really a big thing. Some lights on a fence and see the illuminated trees around. We were so disappointed because we really wanted to ski on ice (is not real ice anyway). I wouldn't recommend it!
