About

WET IN CONCERT:

Wet is one of the most exciting indie R&B groups to emerge from Brooklyn's underground music scene in recent memory. Combining Kelly Zutrau's sweet, charming vocals, Marty Sulkow's dreamy guitar riffs, and Joe Valle's distinct synth-beats, Wet creates a sparse yet powerful sound that plays out perfectly live. The humble performers know how to captivate ticket buyers and are sure to wow when they hit stage to perform fan favorites like "I Don't Want To Be Your Girl" and "You're The Best".

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Hailing from Brooklyn, the three members of the band Wet met in college and began to collaborate with each other while studying and working part-time jobs. Not long after, the band members relocated to different parts of the country but continued to send material back and forth via email. Once they all moved back to New York City, Wet started to take their music more seriously and recorded the tracks for their 2013 self-titled EP. Inspired by '90s R&B groups like Destiny's Child and TLC along with folk acts like Cat Power, the band fuses both genres and uses minimal instrumentation together with blissful vocals to arrive at their blended sound. They've toured with hot indie acts like CHVRCHES and have played several festivals like SXSW and CMJ, earning a cult following along the way. Wet continue to turn heads with their captivating live shows every time they hit the road.

    Sound was bad

by Aksha on 5/18/22The Regent Theater - Los Angeles

I'm a huge fan of this band but was pretty disappointed at the concert due to the sound. They performed amazingly but were having technical difficulties. The lead guitarist was literally unhearable for the whole concert even though he plays a huge roll in the band. The bass and drummer were way too loud. It ruined what the band is best at which is subtlety. Hope to hear them again with better sound next time.

She’s absolutely amazing. Sounds even better live than recorded. She has such a stage presence and her band is phenomenal. 10/10

    Wet is wonderful.

by L. C. on 3/30/19The Belasco Theater - Los Angeles

Wet was great. Kilo Kish had too much electronic distortion and too many strobe lights pointed at the audience. Could not hear her voice at all. Wish she could have pared down her devices and given a more authentic performance.

    Wet is the best

by Jess on 3/27/19Neptune Theatre - Seattle

Wet always puts on a great show, and this time around was no exception! I love how chatty Kelly was this time around. I wish they had played a bit longer, but also it was a Sunday night so I was happy to get home at a decent hour.

The venue was great but the mixing was TERRIBLE!!! It made the whole band sound sharp, especially her voice, which was frustrating because her voice is beautiful.

    Wet and Their Amazing Openers

    by Daniela99 on 5/29/18Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

While the members of Wet were clearly struggling with a bit of stage fright, once they started performing, they were amazing. Kelly, the lead singer, had such a wonderful voice, unaided, that took over the stage. It was a great performance, not to mention their openers. Cheap Fantasy has now become one of my favorite artists. He was so cute and fun with 80s vibe music that perfectly fit his wacky anime videos in the background. I hope to see him make it big. My only complaint is that he didn’t have merch for sale because I would’ve bought all of it.

Incredible voice that must be heard live!

by SFBikeGal on 11/7/16Mezzanine - San Francisco

I wanted to give this 4 stars because we had to wait a long time after the warmup DJ(who was great and charming) before the main band took the stage. This was stressful for myself and others around me, wondering what was going on. We would have appreciated an announcement, such as "Wet will take the stage at 10:30 so please enjoy this DJ set on us while you wait" or something like that. There wasn't any room to dance up front because we were packed in so tightly. Would love if they sold vip tickets for up front area where people were limited in numbers so you could have room to move, leave to use bathroom, and be able to dance. What happens is that people who get there early end up being squeezed and more people come late and push through to the front until it's so packed, you can't even turn around. I still loved it, and Kelly Zutrau's voice was worth the wait, which is why this still gets 5 stars. She is truly amazing. I hope she stays true to herself and empowers women to be strong and be themselves.

    Best. Night. Ever.

by candidkiddo on 10/24/16Royale Boston - Boston

As a deep-feeling person, Wet's music finds its way into the nooks and crannies of my heart. Tugging at the strings — puppetting with my emotions but I am fully consensual to this. I love the way they make me feel, telling stories that relate so closely to me. Hearing and seeing them live was ethereal. I found myself swaying, eyes closed, enraptured by Kelly's voice mixing so cohesively with the instrumentals. I would never not recommend to see this band live.
