So much for a once in a lifetime experience
by fried42 on 11/17/23Lindner Family Tennis Center - MasonI got these tickets as a 30th birthday present to see Serena Williams in one of her last ever tournaments. As she had announced her career coming to a close after the US Open, the tickets for that event were impossibly expensive, especially when adding in the travel/stay in NYC. But living close to Cincinnati, this was doable. Then the night before the match, they announced that they were moving Serena's match. My mom and I had already taken off work as much as we could, so staying an additional night just wasn't possible. Especially since now the tickets for that session had also gone way up in price. I understand the injury and not wanting to lose your star attraction for the tournament, but something should've been done to try to accommodate or compensate those of us that bought tickets to that first night session. Because I feel I can confidently say that at least 40% of that crowd wouldn't have been there that night if we didn't think that was going to be Serena's session. I saw so many families that night that brought their young girls to see Serena in a once in a lifetime match, the last time they would be able to see this legend on the court. A lot of people, myself included, can't afford to buy multiple sessions, especially families that are buying 4+ tickets. I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the way the tournament handled this situation.
