    Great enthusiasm

    by TinaVer57 on 8/1/23

Great show with beautiful backdrop of canyon. Colorful costumes and enthusiastic performers made the show spirited and fun. El Paso history in a musical form. As a new El Pasoan (7yrs) this was my first time...it was so much fun

    Disappointing shoe

    by Disappointed on 8/1/23

This was not the show represented in ads. Very sophomoric. It was like a high school play. My group left within 10 minutes of the start of the show. The kids were trying but sorry, it was bad

    Disappointing

    by Ms Deb on 7/21/23

This year's performance was disappointing. To begin the history of El Paso in 1910 with no explanation, was a surprise. The "actual"historical part was limited on what was portrayed, the music was not "pageantry"and the choreography was choppy. At one point, the performance appeared to be over and several people left. When it finally WAS over, it just stopped. Other than the majesty of McKelligon Canyon, I would give it LESS than 1 star!

    Disappointed

    by Mojojojo on 7/20/23

I've seen the show a few times within the past 2 decades. This was THE WORST of all of them! The show should have been left as it was. I took out of town guests to see the show and felt the need to apologize as the quality and content has downgraded immensely since the last time I experienced it (about 8 years ago). Huge disappointment. 😔

Fun but Need to Go Back...

    by BN on 7/19/23

Great time, great venue, employees were friendly and there are definitely some talented performers there. Some of the singing went a little overboard. No need to try to too hard. The first segment, although important because of our military, needs to fit in a little better. Its seemed like a last minute add-on. The images projected on the sides need to be shown on a white screen. The rock wall makes them hard to see. Keep the explosions! Test the audio before the show. Too many times the microphone would go out. I did like the band element on stage but they are better in pit. One of my greatest memories of the show was the ending where they shoot a fire-tipped arrow into the mountain and Viva El Paso lights up. That was left out. Also, the ending is way too abrupt. Ease me out the way you eased me in. The show was fun and the performers worked really hard and are talented. I like the idea of tweaking the show but do not mess with the ending.

    Needs improvement

    by JCN on 7/17/23

I used to work on the hospitality team for the show in the 90s. I was looking forward to the show, but was disappointed when not all the cast members had a mic. It was very difficult to understand what was going on. I think there could be more narration projected through speakers rather than rely on the cast. I found the new additions were nice, but out of sync wit the show, so it was disjointed and difficult to follow along. I think the cast is too small and seemed tired and overworked by the end of the show. I think there is lots of promise and the story can still be entertaining, but needs some work. The price of the tickets was fair for what we got.

    Disappointment

    by Becca on 7/15/23

Very disappointed with the quality of the dancers and the program. It started raining within the first hour and honestly I was grateful for it. I still remember four or five years ago; it was such a beautiful event. I looked forward to going every year, not anymore. Maybe things will get better in the future.

    Room for Improvement

    by Mexican Mama on 7/10/23

We were really looking so forward to our adult children and their spouses joining us for Viva! El Paso. It has been about 5-6 years since the last time we saw this incredible story and production. However, we were very disappointed! The first half really was lackluster! Kudos for trying to introduce a newer, more current historical era of El Paso, but it wasn't as interesting, especially to those who are not from this region and it was more on the scale of a high school-type musical! The whole production accented the lack of professionalism in everything from the sound and lighting and the video images lost blending into the wall, to the performers themselves. Overall, the costumes were beautiful and there were 2-3 good vocalists. Also liked the addition of the live band!

    No longer funny

    by SherryLynn on 7/5/23

If it's not broken then don't change it. The 1st half was boring and teasing the political side. The show use to be so funny and intertaining and something El Paso can be proud of, now not so much. Keep politics out of the show before the public completely cancels it altogether. Bring back the humor and old dances, the canon and horse.

    BORING!!

by E. S. on 8/9/22McKelligon Canyon Theatre - El Paso

My wife and I and guests would go yearly back around 2009 when the show was awesome, then one year about 2011 or 2012 the changed the whole show. We were so disappointed that we stopped going, until last week on the insistence of our daughter. So to appease her we went, within 10 minutes of the start of the show my wife and I knew that this was going to be a repeat of the last show we saw. It was totally boring and couldn't wait for the show to end. All in all, if you haven't seen the show before you might like it, my daughter did, but if you've seen it back before the big change I don't think you will like it at all. We'll never go back to see it again, a waste of our money.
