    Wonderful performance; excellent message

by Shabaron on 12/28/23Knoxville Civic Auditorium - Knoxville

The performers were outstanding, bringing our beloved Charlie Brown characters to life. It was hard to keep in mind they were adults, because they were so good acting like children. We loved it! My only negative was that the theater at the Knoxville cicvic center should have had more signage as where to enter their massive building for the play. It took us a long time to find the correct entrance and then had to stand outside the shut doors before letting us in after the first song was finished,

I was not sure what to expect. It was excellent! Both my 5 year old and 12 year old LOVED it! If it come back to Knoxville we will see it again! Though Snoopy’s house needs to be ionically red not blue.:)

    Disappointed

by Jester on 12/27/23Knoxville Civic Auditorium - Knoxville

I was expecting more of a play rather than a musical. I know you have to fill time with a 25 minute cartoon and stretch it over an hour but they could have done so much better. The opening sequence was a mishmash of songs and random characters that took me out of the show right away. It set the stage for the rest of the show. Snoopy was almost unbearable to watch. When did Snoopy become a gymnast? They turned the character into more human than what it should have been. Charlie Brown seemed happy while telling us that he was sad. His voice and demeanor were almost jovial and should have been more downtrodden and melancholy. The tree... the tree was nice but then they revealed a huge tree behind the curtain and somebody took the little tree offstage. Wasn't the point to make the little tree beautiful, not to get rid of the little tree and make believe that the little tree is now a big beautiful tree. We were worried that they were going to ruin Linus's speech but they didn't which was good. Lucy and Sally seemed spot on.

It was the perfect way to kick off the Christmas weekend. I'm a huge fan of the original A Charlie Brown Christmas and was deeply moved by the live performance interpretation. Simply wonderful!

    What was that?

by RA on 12/26/23Knoxville Civic Auditorium - Knoxville

Some how the writer of this show managed to turn a classic 30 minute, tightly written Christmas cartoon into a 90 minute mess. Horrible costumes (so bad the actors had to hold up 8.5 X 11 pictures of the characters they portrayed so the audience could decipher who was who). Long, long songs so the actors could "show off"their acrobatic skills. The portrayal of Snoopy was just so bad. In truth, all the portrayals were so bad. Using adults with horrible costumes to present this story is a bad, bad idea. The most profound scene in the cartoon (Linus telling Charlie Brown what Christmas is all about) was so off base, so poorly performed, ..... I do not have the words to describe how disappointing it was. Just a mess of a show. Wish I had not wasted those hours of my life. and the money I spent taking my family. We all hated it.

    Great play!

by Rick on 12/26/23Knoxville Civic Auditorium - Knoxville

Great play! Followed the original tv Christmas special pretty darn close. Was wondering how they would adapt a 20 to 30 minute TV special into a substantial "live"version and the players/production pulled it off. Had a few bonus songs. Overall a very enjoyable, rewarding experience!

    Great Performance

by Jay on 12/26/23Knoxville Civic Auditorium - Knoxville

The performance was able to keep the spirit of the original television show. The performers were terrific and talented. Our family from ages 13 to 63 were all entertained!
