I loved the play. The actors were great. My only complaint is that it was hard to make out what was being said since the actors did not have individual mics.

the Crucible was on fire!
McCoy Center - New Albany
This production of Arther Miller's The Crucible was definitely a 10 in all aspects. Produced for the smaller confines of the Mershon Hall you could not feel that you had left your seats and became a member of the cast. The use of both the periods clothing from 1692 and from the 1950s only underscored the relevance of the play in today's society. I wish i could pick out a few actors to tell you how wonderful they were but everyone did such a convincing performance. The supporting crews also hit it out of the park with a stage design, costumes, make up, lighting and props that just enhanced the performance to that level as an audience member you hope to experience. If you missed this play you missed a great production. The dedication, the care, and the effort showed in everything that was done on stage. Those threehours passed by with how the show took a hold of me and did not let me go. I wish I could go see it again.

Better Crucible than I expected!
FAU - Studio One - Boca Raton
I have been in this play, directed this play, and designed sets and costumes for this play. It is the most popularly produced play in high school theater. It has been a cliche' of the American theater. And yet, its message remains as timely as ever. This production, using both graduate and undergrad actors, elevates this message with an urgency that Mr. Miller himself would appreciate. The acting is uniformly excellent, and the peripherals of sets, lighting and music all set the mood and enhance it in subtle and obvious ways. The intimate Studio Theatre setting makes the audience eavesdroppers on the action, rather than viewing from a safe distance. We become privy to all of their secrets. This is very well done. Don't miss it.

The Crucible was excellent!
FAU - Studio One - Boca Raton
The Crucible, performed by the grad students of Florida Atlantic University (FAU), was excellent. This vintage Arthur Miller play is as poignant today as it was when first performed and as relevant. The FAU production was perfectly paced, but I didn't expect it to be so emotionally effective for the audience. All in all, I would encourage everyone who can to go and see this production before it closes.

The Crucible - Relevant to our times
FAU - Studio One - Boca Raton
FAU Theatre did a marvelous performance of The Crucible. The music was eerily tense, the lighting was well designed to create the proper focus each moment. The set creatively used the space with very little changes throughout the play, and those changes were fast. Costumes were suitably Puritan. The costumes for the judges were impressive. Makeup was also well done to create both younger characters than those playing the parts as well as older characters while still maintaining the proper time period look. Dr. G did a great job as house manager, giving us all the rules in a lighthearted, creative manner. Standout actor Kyle Barrett brought imposing authority to his role as the head judge/governor's representative to the trials. I would have had a tough time being interrogated by such a strong figure. Overall, the players did a good job. This play has much that is timely to current society, with the need to deal with questions of the role of faith, accusations against how someone shows his or her faith, executions for what one believes and practices, and how to separate truth from falsehood. Great show, Florida Atlantic Theatre Department.

This production was excellent. The venue was great. The acting was professional. Handling the wonderful scenery and moving actors and actresses on and off center stage was impressive and creative. I salute the Marshall University Drama Department for an outstanding production.
