We really enjoyed the Book of Mormon. It was a beautifully performed & orchestrated comedy musical. If you have the opportunity to see it, I suggest you go for it!

So many great things, one not-so-great

by jMom on 4/2/24Adler Theatre - Davenport

The characterizations of the Elders and the upper level leaders was spot on. The music was great, some of it was incredible. Costumes were well done. The language is not suitable for children, Mormons, or weak of heart, but the overall presentation was great. The one thing that still bothers me is a huge hole in the plot when the warlord is suddenly part of the entire village conversion. Just doesn't make sense and there was no explanation as to how it came about. Especially after his meeting with Elder Price.

    Amazing! 👏👏

by Becky on 4/2/24Adler Theatre - Davenport

It was amazing! Cast was amazing. Only brought down the score due to technical difficulties. Mic levels were a bit off when we went and I was hard to understand at certain parts. Additionally, we did have two technical problems, I belive with the fly system, that stopped the show. But overall amazing!!!

    A great experience

by CherTaz on 4/2/24Adler Theatre - Davenport

The show was wonderful. It was fun and funny. The actors did an amazing job. My only issues were with the theater(the chairs suck) and the sound was either too loud or an issue with the speakers as sometimes we couldn't understand what was being said due to some distortion.

    HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED

by SHORTY on 4/1/24Adler Theatre - Davenport

There was technical difficulties within a minute after the play started. Then right after intermission the same thing happened. Both times it only took about 10 min each to get resolved and my husband, adult son and I totally understand this however not being able to understand the words coming out of the actors mouths is not acceptable. We don't know if it was the sound system or what but my husband and I enjoyed it so much the 1st time we saw Book of Mormons last fall in 2023. I had decided to take my son the 1st chance we got. We live near Chicago and traveled to Iowa. The play was by far the worst part of our long week-end. It was only when they went to Uganda that you could not understand any works coming out of the actors mouths. Which 80% was in the country that you could not understand the actors. We were seated in the main section of the theater not in the balcany of the Adler in Davenport Iowa. After we left I told my son we should of left at intermission. His replay was I didn't know that was a option I was more then ready to leave.

    Not up to par

by Quicktruck on 4/1/24Adler Theatre - Davenport

I've seen this show a few times and loved it each time, but this performance had definite problems starting before the opening curtain went up. Immediately after the opening fanfare and spotlight, the announcement came about technical problems and we had to wait a few minutes before the show started successfully. In the second half, it happened again at the opening of the Hell act - the curtain dropped shortly after the beginning of the act and we got the announcement again. All this after the auditorium doors were not opened until 20 minutes before the performance. There must have been some serious problems with the cast going on for this to happen. This was also the first time in a professional show that I heard intonation problems in the orchestra. I hope that the company can get it together for the rest of the tour.
