March 25th and 26th
Neptune Theatre - Seattle
I saw both shows by Doug Stanhope this last weekend, one each on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was a good solid show, with Doug stating at several points during the show that he wished someone was recording it. The Sunday show was louder and longer and I enjoyed both very much. The Neptune is a great venue for Doug and I hope he continues to expand his audience and see him at the Paramount one day soon.

Comedian was amazing venue sucked
Neptune Theatre - Seattle
The Neptune theater is a horrible place to see a show. Everybody is more concerned with the drinking and talking than listening to the person we paid money to see. I’m sure his set was amazing had I been able to hear it. The venue needs to do more to control that.

Brilliant
Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta
Great venue for a great act. Doug as always is pretty near the knuckle and so up to date, but always funny.

Aging like fine wine
Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta
I’ve seen Doug probably 5 times. This show has a very different vibe to it. The venue was larger and more “grown up”. His delivery was as smooth as always but his material has certainly mellowed but not in a bad way. Gone were many of the well crafted shock premises only to be replaced by well thought out approachable dialogues. He had a more inviting vibe than other shows. He’s maturing and calmer but so are his legions of decades long fans so it felt somehow very appropriate. Love Doug !!!!

Brilliant as always

Sat in the front of the balcony to watch the 'walk outs'. That doesn't happen anymore. Stanhope fans know what they signed up for.

Stanhope and Comedy
Bijou Theatre - Knoxville
Doug does what comedians are supposed to do - be funny. He poked fun at the right. He poked fun at the left. He poked fun at the guy sitting two seats to my right who wouldn't shut up. He was firm but fair...and funny about it! He also poked fun at himself. He joked, he involved his own people (Colonel Sanders lookin' manager) and he cracked on the venue having "last call" at about 9 p.m. He encouraged people to walk out and get a drink because "that's what I'd do!" Heck of a guy and he wasn't as caustic as I'd thought he might be. Very pleasantly surprised and he made me think within his comedy. Job very well done!

My fourth time seeing Doug live, he was great as usual, glad he was able to change his underwear before the set began. 10/10

Stanhope may be the G.O.A.T
Sony Hall - New York
I've seen more comedy shows than anyone who is not directly in the business of comedy. Thursday, 4/7/22 I watched Doug Stanhope set a new bar for comedy excellence. Sony Hall, in NYC's theater district is not my first choice to see a comedy show but it is one of the better places in NYC. Stanhope has a body of great work spanning more than 30 years and if you're expecting him to be past his best work, you'll be very surprised to discover his latest hour+. I've used Carlin as my gold standard in comedy for decades and I recognized that as old George became more philosophical, the robust laughter became less frequent. Stanhope has managed to fuse insight with humor so powerful that your face will hurt from laughing. All tolled, I spent 12 hours traveling and it was more than worth the trip. If you can only see one comedy show this year, make is a Doug Stanhope show.

My son and I think this is one of his best shows! Topics and his delivery were brilliant. We were laughing so hard that our cheeks actually hurt! 😁
