    IT troubles

by Chilly on 1/16/24WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

Unable to access my tickets on my phone at Winsport, though no problem at home. The ticket person said this happens very often and promptly pointed me to where I could get the tickets printed. Didn't take long, but annoying. No complaints about venue itself.

    Skate Canada International

by JanieBGood on 11/7/23UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

The skating competition was great. Getting the tickets was not. Mixed messages from Ticketmaster. The webpage said tickets would be mailed within two weeks of purchase (which was April). I knew there would be a hold on the release, but it was stressful wondering if they would be mailed to me in time. The event started on Thurs. Oct. 26. A week before that I chatted with the Ticketmaster Bot. She didn't know if tickets had been mailed yet, so a second set was printed for me and left at Will Call. I had ordered tickets for 3 people so if something happened to them, it was on me! My friend (in Edmonton) had her tickets arrive in the mail on Tues. Oct. 24. That is ridiculous! Please make it clear on the Ticketmaster webpage if tickets for the event HAVE been mailed or not. I didn't know if I was the only one without them or not. I have tickets to two other Canadian skating competitions. One set was mailed and the other was sent to my phone. Either of those options is preferable to not knowing if the tickets will show up or not. Thanks.

Skate Canada Int @ Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Arena UBC

by Gran on 11/2/23UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

It’s one thing not to allow food and drink into an event but then to run out of everything the first day except Nacho Chips & dip and Chicken Strips and fries!!! Totally unacceptable as they knew how many tickets were sold so should be able to calculate how much food to order especially the first day of three. Also water in drinking fountain was hot and I mean almost boiling 🤷‍♀️

The best magical day of my life

by Agskateberry323 on 11/1/23UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

I really enjoyed it, I know I say this for a lot of other figure skating shows and concerts that I have been to in the past, but this one was definitely my favourite and for good reason and I'll explain why I think that I loved seeing the skating programs each of the skaters did for the gala and the costumes were really beautiful. I love the song choices as well. I got really excited when one of the male skaters skated to Teeth by 5 Seconds of Summer, Because it reminds me of the 5 Seconds of Summer concert from last year which just so happend to be in the same venue as 2023 Skate Canada interntional, I know there was two skaters who skated to Disney's Moana for a second I almost thought this was Disney on Ice but that's yet to come. I was also surprised to see a local skater doing gymnatics on ice becasue of the how many backflips he did. However the thing that really stood out to me the most was when people were allowed to meet their favourite skaters after the show. I wasn't execpting for that to happened but it seems that Doug Mitchell Thunderbird sports centre has that special moment of making that happend. I got to meet Piper Gillies and Pual Poirier. As I mention I never thought that it would happened and it did and because of it, it was really magical. But in all in all I really enjoyed it. I'm really excited to see what's coming up next.

    Loved all the amazing skating!

by Skating fan on 11/1/23UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

The only critic I have is the food at the venue. You can't bring in any food or drinks and I am vegetarian and drink decaf so there is very little I can eat. More variety would be much appreciated . Other than that I loved the event and was amazed by the talent of all the skaters.

    Skate Canada 2023

by Valerie on 11/1/23UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

I’ve been to many international skating competitions and this one was the worst. The rink was freezing and not a good location. It was too far away from hotels etc. so a lot of money was also spent on getting there and back again. There were no swag bags like at other events. Not even a free program. There weren’t many vendors. I probably wouldn’t go again if the event was there.

    Everything but the food

by HK on 10/31/23UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

Skate Canada was terrific! The sports buds were a great way to hear the commentary without disrupting the event. Too bad the food options were so terrible. We had tix to two back-to-back events so effectively were at the arena for 10 hours. We lived on chicken fingers and hot dogs, but even those had limited condiment options. Is it really that difficult to serve burgers or sauce?
