Ariel’s mother performs like a graceful prima ballerina. Her performance outshined the lead performers. I found myself watching the orchestra with the other parts. Also, no need for an all knowing eye on the set.

Not washed up!

I took my daughter who has been a Little Mermaid fan for as long as she has been a dancer (18 years!). We loved the originality of the music, the beautiful scenery designs, and yes, the dancing! The theatre was quite comfortable; the Lounge and its staff were welcoming; and we loved the show!
Encore!

moved to tears.

I attended this ballet because I am a long time fan of Rebecca Rebouché, who made the artwork that was behind the dancers. I'm so glad I drove the 4 hours out from Asheville. I loved every minute of it. I haven't been to a ballet in years, but I loved the dancing paired with the paintings in the background. It was all so beautiful and mesmerizing. What a good idea for Carolina Ballet to hire Rebecca.

A Rhapsody in True Blue
Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh
Truly an outstanding performance all around and an impressive interpretation of familiar George Gershwin songs. Everyone in our group enjoyed the show very much. The only recommendation would be to have Ticketmaster indicate that Box 6, Seat 1 has an obstructed view. When we booked the tickets, this information would have been helpful as the dancers were out of view at times when at the very back of the stage or off to one side.

Pleasantly surprised by Rhapsody in Blue ballet
Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh
Gershwin’s music accompanied by a ballet was extraordinarily good.
The only true disappointment was that the first row seats did not leave much room to stretch the feet.
The coffee was also a disappointment.
The next time around we are going to have a cocktail.

Incredibly Disappointing
Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh
WOW. The Carolina Ballet's Nutcracker was not very good at all. I grew up going to see the Nutcracker at the Boston Ballet, so I know my standards are high. But this show felt like a dance school recital, not a performance by a professional company. There really wasn't any ballet for the first 30-40 minutes! The Nutcracker prince was a kid! Clara wasn't on pointe! Mother Ginger had a big skirt, but no kids came out from or went back underneath it, that really annoyed me!! The dancers in general did not have good precision or timing. Most of the choreography was very boring. I liked the pas de deux with the Sugar Plum Fairy and Prince Coqueluche, that was lovely. But geez, what a disappointment. I can't see myself going back anytime soon.

Not what it’s hyped up to be

This was not what was expected. Mediocre at best. I felt like I was a children’s elementary school play. Not worth the money.

Not Impressed
Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh
I thought there were technical difficulties because of how long the Symphony played before the curtain went up! Once the performers came on stage it was very obvious changes were made to the Party Scene...boring!!!
Some of the dancing was sloppy throughout. I paid more than $100 a ticket and brought my mother-in-law and other guests and we were very
disappointed. The Sugar Plum Fairy was the highlight!
Act 2- the Chinese Dance-Dance of the Reed Flutes with a male dancer- eh. Not impressed. I wish they had left The Nutcracker as is!
