New York City is a quick-change artist, famous for transforming overnight - so what's packed and popular this month may be passé by the time you arrive. It's impossible to see everything, regardless of its staying power, so instead try to soak in the sheer amount of culture, restaurants, exhibitions, and people here, and you'll be acting like a jaded New Yorker in no time.

Take a look into the Overlook at the US Open and 1968 Room
Founded in 1881, the US Open is one of the longest-running tennis tournaments in the world and the second oldest Grand Slam® tournament after Wimbledon. Richard Sears won the inaugural tournament (which was then called the U.S. National Championships) held at the Newport Casino in Newport, RI. In 1887 Ellen Hansel took home top honors in the first women's singles competition. The tournament found a new home when the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center opened in 1978, which has become a mecca for modern tennis fans.
Every year during the US Open, more than 600,000 fans pour into The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Arthur Ashe Stadium - the largest tennis-specific facility in the world with the capacity to seat over 23,000 - has recently added a retractable roof to let fans enjoy a gorgeous summer day or the thrill of a nighttime match under the lights of the court and city. The hardcourt is the stage and soul of this major event, creating an up-tempo style of play full of unpredictable spin shots that show off the dazzling physical and mental dexterity of the sport's greatest competitors.
